The first time we visited La Croix Du Vieux Pont was as a stop off point on our way to Switzerland and Italy, during september 2009 and on our return. We thoughly enjoyed our stay and returned the following year, again travelling with Keycamp. We all loved the pools and the water slides, it is a well run beautiful camp site.Chez Micheline the restaurant near the camp site is as it is, very french, smokey little tabac, the food is wonderful and very reasonable. Although the weather was none to brilliant the grandchildren enjoyed it and my son inlaw who is a keen fisherman loved it. The rest of us spent our time exploring the region, a fellow camper told us about Pierrefont chateau and the michelin star restaurant nearby. The chateau is well worth a visit, they were filming Merlin at the time and admission was free. The caves (basement) containing the tombs stones is very erie. It is about 1 1/2 hours drive to Disneyland .We are returning to La Croix du Vieux Pont later this month, travelling with Thomson al fresco, we will visit Paris this time and possibly Versaiiles, cant wait to go back to Chez Micheline

Room Tip: Check the accomadation if alls not well complain straight the way

We have just arrived back for La Croix du vieux pont, and had the most amazing time, stayed with thomson al fresco,(using tesco vouchers)in a rossini caravan, all these are new, quite far from the main complex by that didnt bother us at all.and immaculate, they all have their own decking, garden furniture (inc bbq)and garden area, all blocked down the sides from the next caravans. It was by far the most comfortable caravan I have ever slept in! The thomson staff were brilliant, knew all about the area, they also take you to your caravan and come to see what time you want hem to check you out, they have a £70 refundable deposit. They also give you a number to text or call if you have a problem and they will come straight to you. there were no kids club whilst we were there but we didn't miss it at all, as kids were happy playing in the parks and pools, we were lucky as had amazing weather. The park has a man made beach on the lake, kids loved it, the usual pedalos, bike, fishing rod hire. Alot of people had their own bikes and most kids had scooters. The shop is very reasonable, but there is a HUGE Cora supermarket not far,ask for directions from the thomson staff, (my husband got given complete wrong directions from other staff) The park provides a bus service to Paris and Disney on alternate days, the cost is 20 euros for adults 15 for children 9 for babies(must have car seat), this drops you off at 10ish,it is about 40 mins (walking with kids)from the Eiffel tower, and picks you up in the same spot at 645. enough time to visit the main spots, walked up the tower as the queue for lifts was huge! The louve was pointless with kids as its far too busy, Notre dame was lovely. Nearby is the Cheuteux Du Pierrefonds, where they film Merlin, amazing place def worth a visit if your in the area, only takes a couple of hours but there are plenty of places to eat nearby, not alot inside but for the price its fascinating, its only 7.50 euros for adults, kids are free, they close between 12-2.

This site is a beautifully kept and has excellent facilities. It is really a self-contained holiday village for British families and does not feel like France at all. There isn't much choice for dining out unless you travel to Soissons or Compiegne. The exception is Chez Micheline which I would highly recommend. Good food and inexpensive, plus a very friendly mine host.

Room Tip: Ask for a mobile home at the far end of the site near the fishing lake.

This is our second visit to this site, last time with eurocamp, this time We booked for 8 nights with Canvas in a 4 bedroom lodge with a lake view (which we paid extra for) due to 4 adults a teenager and 2 children 9 and 11, holidaying. The lodge was lovely, well equipt and loads of space outside, the AWFUL thing was the amount of people who walked by blatantly staring at the beautiful accommodation while we were sat out side and even eating our dinner on the decking, in the end we took to waving at people or saying hello!!

The 4 bed lodge has a big family space and can sleep up to 10. Had a lovely cooker and hob, good size fridge and freezer and all the kitchen utensils you would need. There were stair gates fitted too, which would be great for little ones and had a TV (only news in english) and dvd player. The gas BBQ was huge too. It was all very clean. The Canvas staff were all really friendly, they came and checked we were fine a few times, and although my children wouldnt go to the childrens clubs they seem well attended and the children seem to love them.

We went to Chez Michilin (out of the site and turn right, drive for a few mins and its on the left), Its a Tabac and restaurant. 7 of us ate and had starters - frogs legs!! (They do other things) and all had pudding and 3 adults had wine and (including all drinks) it came to 104 euro. We spent almost that last year for 2 adults and 3 children in the on the site restaurants and chez michilin was alot nicer. 3 people had steak and one had lamb shank, one had chicken in cream sauce, (one had nuggets and chips and one ham and chips!!!) it was all delicious. The menu is fairly limited but the kitchen is tiny but there is a choice of about 10 things plus omelettes etc. You have to remember you go on holiday to experience other peoples cultures!! The waiter was very friendly and they were even nicer if you tried to speak the language a little.

We visited Soisson which seemed lovely, we went on market day and still managed to park in a free car park. The market was busy but the things were reasonable. My youngest did not like the caged birds and rabbits for sale but again, its different cultures. The rotisseri chicken stall was very popular and my older 2 loved the paella that they were serving. The town istelf has all kinds of shops you would need.

We shopped in Cora in soisson, which I love, especially the grapefuit wine! ;-) The selection of meat and veg is great. If you do feel thee need for heinz baked beans either take some with you or there is a small english sect in the Intermarche in Vic Sur Aisne but obviously its pricey as it has been imported for the brits who cant live without!

Vic sur Aisne is a small town/large village has a few lovely cake shops, the chocolate eclairs filled with chocolate cream are delicious. My hubby loved the macarons, again if you are prepared to try speaking french they are more than polite andhelpful in return. There is a tourist office in Vic sur Aisne too.

Pierrefonds (where merlin is filmed) is beautiful. Its 7euro for adults and free for under 18s. There is part of the set there too, obviously you cant go into it but my boys liked seeing it.

We went on the bus from the site to paris. 20 Euro for aults 15 for children. seems pricey but its well worth it. La Louvre is 10 euro for adults, free for under 18s or under 25 if you are an EU student. you could spend a whole day in there. The gardens just next to la louvre are lovely to just sit and chill in. The eiffel tower is cheap if you walk up the stairs and you dont have to queue, the queue for the lift is hours long.

The Clearing in Compiegne is sign posted from the main road, it is where the surrender was signed in WW1, there is a small museum there which is 5 euro for adult and 3 for children.

There is a few table tennis tables about as well as a room for table tennis too. you can hire the bats from near the pedalo lake for a couple of euros and a refundable depositof 20 euro, we bought our own from sports direct before we went for £1.49 each!

The pool on the site is nice but had ridiculous queues outside from about 0930 hr just so people (british) can get sun beds! It does not open until 1030. It has a couple of slides, and inside and outside pool, jacuzzi and baby pool. It is annoying though as inside you spend half your time trying to avoid balls that people are throwing to each other! There seemed to be a lot of children left to their own devices, in the pool and out and about the site, while the parents lay on sun beds or go to the bars. Children on bikes ride on whatever side of the road they like and zip out of the junctions without looking and unfortunately they mostly seemed to be british. But then some adults were driving with their kids on their knees or stood out the sunroof or in the back of a pick up truck, again these were british! They seem to think they are on holiday so doesnt matter what they do!

The women in the site reception, where you buy washing and tumble dryer tokens (4E for washing 3E for tumble) are lovely and very helpful but it embarrassing how some british were talking to them especially when the guests had a problem which was the guests fault (ie they turned up the wrong day or Euro camp said they would have a bottle of wine on arrival and they didnt - thats not the family who own the sites responsibility, go shout at eurocamp!!).

We would visit again however we would not pay extra for a lake side pitch to be gawped at. I may seem a bit moany but parts were brill - the accommodation, Canvas, the places we visited, and bits could have been better like how other british behave abroad!

We booked this trip with Eurocamp and I can honestly say we will book with them again and again and again ! I would suggest calling their booking line as opposed to looking at their website as you may get a better deal, as we did. Their booking team are honest and friendly and I was practically in tears when she told me how many days I had to go until our holiday ! We were able to travel a couple of days before our check-in to Berny, which was a welcome surprise.

On arrival, our accomodation - a 2 bed horizon + deck, wasnt ready, but we were able to use the pool. This was the only slight let down of the holiday, was that the pools were really crowded and the layout of the pool meant you couldnt actually swim anywhere !! But the boys loved it and felt comfortable in the water which was a relief.

When we were shown to our accomodation, we were told it was at the very end of the site, so a 15 minute walk back to the main entrance, but at least we were away from the pool noise. We stayed at Pruniere 7, which, is the biggest two bedroom accomodation Eurocamp does, but at no extra cost, it was a 40m sq. as opposed to 25msq, and had two bathrooms, so if you dont mind a walk, this mobile home is definitely worth the walk.

The kids club on site run jointly with Keycamp was brilliant, and the staff just so friendly and welcoming.

The site itself is imacculate. Our hedges and grass were cut twice in our 6 day stay ! Bins emptied regularly and no rubbish anywhere. There is so much to do here with children, its great. I would recommend Cora in Soissons for your groceries.

All in all, a lovely restful and pleasant holiday, not our usual type of holiday, but definitely tempted to do this again to this site.

Room Tip: Ask for Prunieres 7 or 8 !!!

This trip was booked through Thomsons Al Fresco holidays for a week during August. We decided on Al Fresco because we had Tesco Clubcard Vouchers we could use against the booking. We booked over the phone and the staff were extremily helpful and knowledgable, as many of them have used these holiday sites too. So as for a booking experience it was definately A*. When we arrived on the site we were pleased with our van and it's location. Al Fresco caravans are towards the back of the site meaning it is very peaceful (but 10 mins to walk to pool/ reception). Al Fresco staff were very nice and helpful (although when we arrived 2 of the staff members clothing looked dirty, i think they had just cleaned some caravans. This however should be addressed as first impressions are quite important). If we needed anything we only had to ask and it was there. I can't comment on the Al Fresco kids club as my girls 10 & 13, didn't seem interested in the clubs which they offered, they were more interested in the Canvas holiday Reps!! The site itself was the spotless and very beautiful. The lakes provided lovely walks/bikerides and was very picturesque. Bikes to hire are only 3.50 euro for an hour, which was a bargain. Horse riding is just outside the camp, my daughter and friend rode and it was 20 euro for 1 hour. The local supermarket is 2 mins in the car or 20 mins walk and has everything needed. The main attraction for my girls was definately the pool area. It really was excellent for their age group. With the slides, and different types of pools, it was very impressive. A little bustling first thing, especially if you want a sunbed, but as we went in August thats what you expect. Food isn't allowed by the pool which means it's immaculate and clean. Would i book again? Absolutely. I would definately book again with Al Fresco, but i would also consider Canvas. They offered Lodges which were fab. We had the chance to look around one and we were very impressed. Overall a really great holiday and superb weather!!

Room Tip: Al Fresco offer a luxe model of van which has nicer outdoor furniture and a canopy.

We are just returned from a 2 week holiday. We travelled with Canvas and stopped in a 2 bed lodge. This was lovely (although we did have mushrooms growing in the toilet!).
We chose this site due to the fact we could walk to the local town as we like eating out. There was one rstaurant open which was expensive, limited and poor quality. We did not return.
We did drive to soisson but that too was shut down for august. Very disappointing.
The restaurants on site were poor quality, always busy but they have a monopoly as there is nowhere else to eat.
The swimming pool was great. My children loved it. Never too busy due to the size.
The beach was not great. The bottom is disguisting, do not put your feet down its slimey and gross!!!
lots of other things to pay to do. you can buy discount cards there which are worth buying.
Our children (4 and 6) loved the kids club. They were all so professional. they ran so many different activities. we joined in with the disco and family games. Ashleigh was a firm favourite!
whilst we were there we did have our bikes stolen, they were locked up! canvas did provide a translator for the police station.
there was a fabulous security man, Rob, there. Our boy cut his head open and he was there to translate even though he was not working. he also helped with the bikes.
Not sure I would go back there mainly as it does not allow us the type of holiday we want where we can go out to eat.

Room Tip: 2 bed lodges are the opposite side of the park to everything else, take a bike. Beautiful location t...
