We've been going to La croix du vieux pont since 1993!!! to say we love this place and the area would be an understatment. Our girls are now married with kids and as soon as we say we're going they arrange time off and come to. We've seen so much change on site but all for the better. Being France things are more expensive than spain, portugal etc. but careful planning it can be a lot cheaper than the UK..Site resturant isnt what it used to be,and the woman running it needs a lesson on manners and a humour implant. the main bar&games room have computers & wifi was 8euros for 24hours,beer 4euros a pint. Take away & shop, and lake cafe owned by the family who used to own the resturant and the food&prices reasonable. Lake bar owned by same people who own main bar, although the beer is slightly more expensive there. the small intermache in village has all your shopping needs, any brit food VERY expensive. Huge carrefour in compiegne,Mc D's.Pizza hut, plus loads french shop chains at Vanette to. Go to Pierrefonds to see the chateaux where merlin is filmed.and have a lazy lunch by the river watching the world go by.bliss. Disney easy to get to takes about 1.30hrs to park.tolls about 16euros round trip.parking was 14euros in june. 1.30hrs drive will also get you to Reims & Epernay. NOW the best place to eat near site is Chez Michiline out of site turn right a 15 min walk or 5 min drive and the bar is on the left. its a bar, shop, sells fishing bits,a tabac and sells the best pint of St Omer any where.Madame cooks in tiny kitchen under the stairs Didier.Dominic and their brothers are brill.so is the food, cheap hot &tasty. If you want the full nanny state rules of health and food hygine dont go here! as all you will do is go on this site and slag off &complain this bar. But if you want to have a great meal, drink and the true french experiance please go. Back to the site, word of warning any one going in october, the camp bars, cafe, resturant, games room close for the first 3 weeks of october, then open for the last one, NO I dont understand why either. We have already booked for next june, and yes the tribe is coming with us. in their own vans with Keycamp.also we,re booked for 3wks sept 2012.so far no tribe!!!! If your booked you will enjoy the site is brill.the area so interesting. If your there in 2012 see you for a BEER or 2 . enjoy

Room Tip: have used both Thomson&Keycamp have vans to suit all

Just returned from Camping here for a fortnight with family and friends and I must say the resort is fabulous; Beautiful location, loved the pools, the pedlo boats, the canoes and absolutely plenty to keep the children occupied, really friendly staff as well.

The main down side is the facillities to the far right of the campsite. when flushing the toilets water would overflow soaking the floor, meaning the floor was constantly filthy, there was no hot water here for washing up either. The closest shower block floor seemed constantly dirty and the water only luke warm by 9.30am, not what I would call power showers either. However this did not dampen our spirits whatsoever.

if you've stayed in any of the bigger more popular campsites in europe you might be a bit dissapointed by the pool complex. not really much along the lines of big slides etc, just a few basic ones. the sight itself is nice, clean and there are activities but most things carry an extra charge. bike hire very expensive. trampolines, bouncy castle and tennis all carry a charge. there is a man made beech and lake on site which are nice. disney is about an hour away but you should bring your sat nav. take away not great. restaurant is nice.all in all a nice spot for visiting disney and parc astrix, and exploring the small villages near by. also a must is to visit buffalo grill about 20 minutes away.

Room Tip: ask for mobile not too far from reception but not too close either!!

We are a family of 5 with 3 boys aged 7, 5 and 8 months. We stated in early July with Venue holidays in a mobile onsite. The emplacement was really nice beside the far lake with lovely views from the decking.

The facilities were fantastic, with the boys enjoying fishing, mini golf, trampoline, toy car track, bouncy castle and of course the swimming pool. We bought an activities card which offered huge discounts as the costs of some activities could really add up. The weather wasnt great at all... we only had one really nice day, the others cloudy and not that warm. The retractable roof on the pool was therefore very useful. I did feel however, that the changing rooms for the pool were a little grubby and that put me off a little.

We used the takeaway once and the pizza was soggy so didnt use it again. Wasps were everywhere around the campsite and even in the local restaurants. We ate one night in Chez Micheline which was lovely really rustic, and the food was very tasty. We ate another night at the restaurant at the lake and it was only ok.

The bakery onsite was also lovely for croissants and baguettes each morning. The intermarche in Vic was fine with better prices than onsite. We did day trips to the War Clearing Museum near Compeigne, which was v. interesting but not for the kids. Castle Pierrefonds was nice but I had expected a more interactive experience. The market in Soissons on the Saturday was good with lovely fresh produce. And we did Disney (our first visit) for one day which we all loved....We didnt take the bus as we wanted flexibility on our return times. Its an easy drive from the campsite it took us about hour and 15 using the satnav.

All in all a nice holiday. Pity about the weather. Wouldnt use Venue again as the van was v. pokey for our needs, the grill was inadequate and interaction with the reps was minimal. Lifestyle holidays mobiles looked nice and the prices seem reasonable also Canvas had great activities for kids onsite.

I just recently returned (16 July 2011) from the campsite and had a very enjoyable time. I have three boy's aged 10, 8 and 2 and they had a ball.

I booked with Keycamp which had a soccer camp every morning (except Tuesday) from 10:00 to 12:30 (had a later session as well but not sure of time) as my two older boy's are football mad this was perfect, some peace and quiet for mum and dad and they thoroughly enjoyed the sessions. The trainers were very very friendly and provided an encouraging and relaxed environment to ensure that the kid's learned a few new skills but also enjoyed themselves while making new friends. There were also plenty of other kids clubs, a climbing wall, a zip line and archery.

The pool complex is also excellent the small slides in the heated baby pool, which had a retractable roof, provided hours of fun for my 2 year old while the bigger slides kept the older two entertained, along with the indoor adult pool. The outside pool looked nice but the water was freezing and just not practical.

The restaurant beside the pool was good, very friendly service and nice food. The restaurant beside the 'beach' was less welcoming and on one occasion I was totally ignored for ages while staff buzzed past. Had a breakfast here on two mornings and it was good but not very substantial (1 and a half sausages, transparent bacon, one egg and some beans). The main bar was okay and the games room upstairs (pool tables, football table, air hockey) was a big draw for the kids. Drink was quite expensive here and also the staff were not as friendly as in the attached restaurant. The take away was okay but was a draw for wasps, as the bins weren't cleared often enough and food was sometimes left on the tables, one evening there must have been over 20 wasps in the area and my youngest got stung, never went back again. The onsite shop was expensive but a useful service and the bakery attached had some lovely treats!

The site also included 3 trampolines (again which the kids loved), €2 for 10 minutes and a bouncy castle, €2 for 15 minutes. There was also pedaloes and a small car driving area, suitable for 3 to 8 year olds, this was again €2 for about 4 turns around the mini track. There is also a good kids playground for free and lots of green space for the hyperactive (of which I have 3, lucky me!!). I also hired a bike out at the site which was a useful facility.

It has enough activities to keep the children happy regardless of the weather, which wasn't great (4 fine days, 2 rainy days and 6 mixed days).

There is not a lot in the village of Vic-Sur-Ainse, had a meal in one of the restaurants it was okay, nothing special. The town of Compeigne is quite pretty and worth a visit, there is a museum of miniature army figures, which the kids really liked, as did the adults (€1 entry for kids and €1.50 for adults).

The Cora hypermarket outside Soissons is massive, got a bottle of Champagne there for €4, it was gorgeous, granted I'm no cognisor!

I took the bus to Eurodisney (big disappointment), the problem is the bus doesn't returmn for 12 hours, the kids were counting down the time after two, so it was a long long day.

If you don't like your weather too hot (I'm Irish so have neither the skin colouring nor the temperament for blistering heat) and like to do activities on your family break then this is the ideal place.
