I stayed here for 2 nights in the second week of September 2014 - in hot sunshine.

I was very much looking forward to this 4 star plus hotel on the Golfo aranci - plus a website with pictures to depict its beauty.

My experience was one of utter disappointment.
Firstly the positives .The location of this hotel is so ideal, right on the beach with great views, a sandy shore and beautiful sea. I found the service provided by the hotel staff (operating the beach lounge chairs/umbrellas) to be favourable.
I dined in the outside part of the restaurant - tables had beautiful white canvas style umbrellas with green flowers. The romance was illuminated by the subtle lighting. The lounge area was well laid out with nice white sofa chairs with blue emblems. It was clean and air conditioned.

Now to the negatives. Firstly, the taxi the hotel booked for me to take me from Olbia Airport to the airport was dreadful standard. On arrival the welcome I received was not warm; I wasn’t offered any help with luggage, nor offered any welcome drinks. The receptionist and staff didn’t seem bothered - and were just talking amongst each other at a non-busy time.

The classic double room booked with no sea view room was small and tired - no way near befitting a 4 plus* hotel. The room shabby, the décor was dated and it wasn’t very clean. The bathroom was unsafe in every sense - the shower was slippery with a wobbly glass in the cubicle. The floor area, was covered with smooth tiles(like wall tiles) - so absolutely unfit for purpose - I slipped a number of times, even when there was no water on the floors.

The balcony was so dated and filthy - particularly around where the air conditioning unit where there was a lot of black grime. The storage storage space was limited and there was no offer of free Wi-Fi.

The rooms soundproofing so you could hear what was going on in other rooms - babies crying constantly.

The so called double bed had twin beds pushed together, despite assurances in advance that I would get a double mattress..

This hotel is in need of a total re-vamp and should close for this work to take place.
The customer services training across the hotel was poor - from reception, restaurant to the management team. I heard swearing on a number of occasions - very unprofessional..

The cocktails I ordered were not cocktails - they tasted like cheap brand alcohol, mixed with poor quality juice and excessive quantities of ice - these were appalling cocktails and the accompaniments were not much better either.

I had dinner at the hotel and the food was fine - the breakfast had a decent variety - the bar next to the beach served a variety of snacks.

The lasting impression I had of the hotel was that on checking out, we also carried our bags to the car - and had to share the taxi with another couple who were apparently running late for their flight !

This hotel is so disappointing when you compare it to similar star hotels around - the service and standard does not remotely fit the rating and price you pay. I was left in utter despair.

We stayed at the beautiful Gabbiano Azzuro for a week in June 2014. We were amazed by the beauty of its exclusive location, great facilities, spacious rooms and proximity to many beautiful sights,beaches and nice restaurants.
It is worth mentioning the Hotel's restaurant Blu which is amazing, the food is delicious, the service is good and if you are lucky with the weather and are seated outside then you will enjoy a very romantic sea view.
The staff is very attentive, especially the gorgeous hostess Antonella, who is constantly making sure that all of her guests are happy and comfortable. I've never experienced such a warm welcome, will go back again!

Room Tip: go for a room with a sea view

Great location. Excellent food. Very clean and well maintained. Very friendly and professional staff. Good outdoor pool and poolside service. Breakfast buffet sets you up for the day. Evening menu may appear a little limited but is very good quality. Never did discover the difference between the main restaraunt and Restaurant Blu. Room was good, not big but very adequate with a decent balcony. Cleaning staff are really efficient.

Room Tip: Find the local supermarket and hire a car.

What a disappointment!

We stayed here for 2 nights in the second week of September 2014 - gloriously hot sunshine

I was very much looking forward to starting my tour of the northern Sardinian coast with a short stay at this beach hotel in Golfo Aranci.
Firstly the positives .The location of this hotel is its most desirable you could ever hope for, right on the beach with great views and lovely Aqua and Cobalt Sea and sandy shore. There is a good service by the hotel staff operating the beach lounge chairs and umbrellas.
We had dinner in the outside part of the restaurant - the tables were underneath white canvas style umbrellas with green flowers - and with the subtle lighting, it looked very romantic. The lounge area around the reception was nicely presented with nice white sofa chairs with blue emblems - clean and nicely air conditioned.

Now to the negatives. Firstly, the taxi we booked via the hotel to meet us at Olbia Airport was of a poor standard. Unfortunately on arrival we have received a very cold welcome, we were not offered any help with luggage and we were not offered any welcome drinks or complimentary water. There was no excuse for this as the reception was hardly rushed off its feet.

The real shock hit us once we entered the small, tired room - we booked a classic double room with no sea view (overlooking the village). We could not believe that such a poor standard of room (on the First floor) could be rated 4* compared to similar category establishments! The room was old and shabby, dated decor, no class, no style, just sad. The bathroom was unsafe, the small slippery shower with wobbly glass in the cubicle. The whole bathroom, including the floor area, was covered with smooth wall tiles - so you were in danger of slipping at any time, regardless of whether there was water on the floor. These are smooth wall tiles designed for walls, not floors - why not get floor tiles of the right grade! I hated using these facilities and even had to wear plastic shoes in order to feel safer while washing!

The balcony was so dated and dirty floors, particularly around where the air conditioning unit was - black grime. The whole room needs a revamp. There was little storage space in the cupboards too. The hotel did not offer any free WI-fi.

The nightmare continued when we realised that there was no soundproofing and that our room (223) was connected to room 224, (adjoining door between the two rooms), where a new born baby was constantly crying loudly.

Even worse was the bed: we had specifically booked a double bed (with a double mattress) rather than having twin beds pushed together but unfortunately, this is what we ended up with. When I called the reception to ask for a room change, I was told by Pietro that the bed had been made as a double of 2 single beds put together, with a double sheets and cover and that, as a traveller I should know that the Germans prefer two single beds. (I am not German!!! I am actually Sardinian, and why would he assume that every traveller knows the sleeping preferences of the Germans?) Without an apology, I was then told that the hotel was fully booked and we could not change rooms. I felt cheated as my partner had an email reply by Claudia which stated that we would have a double bed that had a double mattress (not two single mattresses pushed together which open when you get close to the middle).I think this hotel should be re-inspected and downgraded – and then close for a full make over/renovation.
I also would recommend a fresh injection of customer services training is delivered to the reception and management team. On my first day, on the way to the beach I had to also hear the chef in the kitchen shout swear words, using obscene language. When I complained to the waiter and told him that language and manners are important, he simply replied: ’have a nice day’. I felt ignored as well as eluded and disrespected in my rights as a paying customer.

On our first evening we had a pre dinner drink and ordered cocktails by the pool - they were anything but cocktails - poor quality mixers with some alcohol and ice - that's what it amounted too - we have never had such bad so called cocktails. The bites that came with the drinks were so disgusting that I cannot even find words to describe them. The Blu restaurant was very atmospheric and we had a great service, the food was okay.
The breakfast had variety with good Prosecco also served - but putting the scrambled eggs hot plate next to the sausage and bacon hot plates was at best ill judged as unsuitable for vegetarians - particularly as the serving spoons were all put in the same plate! We appreciated the good Prosecco though and the food served at lunch by the beach bar.

On departure, we also carried our bags to the car.

What a disappointing experience this hotel is. Compared to the other 4 star hotels we stayed in and around Olbia, it is very poor - the service and standard is not what you would expect of a four star hotel.

One redeeming factor was that there are other eateries within 10 minutes walk from the hotel - we visited a nice Pizzeria and Gelateria for dinner.

We stayed here for one week in late September. The location is good, Twenty minutes from the airport and a ten minute walk to town where there are a couple of small supermarkets, gift shops and trattorias.
The hotel is literally on the beach but the private area is very small and during our stay there were times when there were insufficient sun-beds – especially when a coach party was in residence.

We paid the extra and had a superior room that overlooked the pool / terrace area and offered a sea view, which in turn proved to be a double edged sword. We also took the ‘half board’ option.
The room was adequate with plenty of storage space. There was a wall safe (50 Euro refundable deposit) that was capable of taking a couple of passports and mobile phones only so if you had a tablet or similar ... tough!
The bathroom was of a reasonable size but the shower cubicle was miniscule (2'6 square). There were two sliding doors which wouldn't close properly and indeed every time you raised your arms in the shower you would catch one door and it would open so small floods onto the bathroom floor were common. The situation was not helped by the fact that the shower tray didn't drain very well and often overflowed.
However it was better than the standard rear view rooms that overlooked the construction of a building on the other side of the road.
The room cleaning was not all it could have been with dirty glasses left etc.

The word 'hot' does not seem to exist in the dictionary.
Lots of cereals, three cheeses, three processed meats. Plenty of fresh fruits. A small selection of dubious looking items on some form of metal hot plate. A selection of sweet pastries were also on offer.
Fruit Juice. The only thing that was freshly squeezed was the carton! Cheap and nasty!
Coffee. Illy? Don't be silly! Whoever said Italians should be proud of their coffee forgot to tell this hotel. I suspect the standard coffee (served in a lidless metal jug) was made from coffee syrup. Either way both the coffee and the cappuccino was served - at best - luke warm. Tea was a selection of teabags and 'hot' water but again the water was only luke warm.
Dinner – with the half board option – was four courses all ‘table service’. The fourth course was the dessert. Each course offered two or three choices. There were lots of local delicacies on offer and it was not unusual to have Squid, Octopus, and Cuttlefish all on the menu at the same time.
Sunday was ‘Sardinian Night’ and was a reduced choice of local fayre. On the Sunday we were there they were offering a second course of Wild Boar Ravioli, and a third course of Suckling Pig and Lamb Stew .. on the same plate! On three of the seven nights we stayed, we opted to ‘eat out’ and transferred the credit to lunch.
Vegetarians do not appear to be well catered for.
Again, as for breakfast, the food is served luke warm.
The wine list was reasonable in choice – but whereas they were charging 25 euro for an acceptable Cannonau, the same product was available for less than 8 euro in the local supermarket! Mark ups yes – but this was taking the you know what!!!

The staff were helpful and friendly but at times they seemed to fighting a losing battle.

Problems: Live music. This is advertised as ‘high season’ – but we had it in low season – on the pool terrace – and up until midnight. Not good if you retire early!
Weddings: The hotel hosts wedding receptions. They claim hotel guests will still get ‘normal service’ and all facilities will still be available, Not so. The pool area was out of bounds and the main restaurant was closed to hotel guests for lunch and restricted for dinner.
The hotel also accepts coach parties so it can get busy in the restaurant when 30 or 40 people all come in together.

Room Tip: Can't win here! The front rooms are good except when there is live music and / or a wedding goin...

The location of this hotel is perfect - not far from airport and in a relatively quiet bay. The hotel staff is friendly and extremely helpful, rooms are comfortable. It is worth to pay for sea view as the other side is just boring city view. Food is great - breakfast choice excellent and dinner menu changes every day. The beach is amazing with the unbelievably clear water, just pay attention that for sunbeds you have to pay during high season.

Booked a weeks holiday here at the end of May for our wedding anniversary. Hotel and area were quiet as the holiday season was just beginning but that suited us, suspect the area gets very busy in peak season. Weather was a little mixed (storm one day and could get windy) but again, peak season can be extremely hot. Mostly couples staying at the hotel but a few families also - no noisy kids clubs, children quite capable of making their own entertainment at the pool / beach and all seemed to be having a ball.

Hotel has a fantastic location, right on the beach with a private beach area for hotel residents. Never any problem getting a lounger at the pool and beach towels are provided for a deposit (this can be placed against your booking card). East walking distance along the seafront to a number of restaurants and two grocery stores nearby.

Booked a compact room with a sea view, whilst the room was certainly compact, how much time do you really spend in your room while on holiday, and the sea view was gorgeous.

Everywhere in the hotel was spotless and well kept. Breakfast buffet was plentiful - usual fayre of hot bacon / sausages / eggs etc as well as a selection of cold meats, cheese, fruits and pastries but all good quality and tasty.

Stayed on B&B board but ate at the Blu restaurant several times from both menus and food was delicious. Beautiful presentation and way above usual hotel cooking standards. I've eaten in some quality restaurants around the world and this was well up there. Attentive service without being suffocating. Worth a visit even if you're not staying at the hotel.

All hotel staff extremely professional, friendly and courteous.

Recommended to numerous family and friends and definitely planning to return. Thanks for making our anniversary special.
