“An excellent hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

We have just spent a wonderful week in Golfo Aranci.at Hotel Villa Margherita. The hotel is in a prime position and the staff are welcoming and helpful. The are many excellent restaurants close to the hotel but the quality of food and service at the hotel provide excellent value for money. I would thoroughly recommend this hotel to friends and family.

We stayed at this hotel during our honeymoon in August 2012 for two nights, stopping in Sardinia on our way from Paris to Tuscany. Wow. This place was exactly what we needed to relax. Hotels in Europe are not always up to US standards but this hotel was really nice. The rooms were clean and bright with a beautiful view. The rooms were decorated in a nice coastal theme and there were Sardinian tapestry rugs and blankets, had a large bathroom with tub, big balcony, and a very comfy bed. The hotel sits at the beginning of the main road that closes every night for a wonderful street fair. Strolling the streets on a hot summer night with live music, vendors selling everything from candy to clothes to toys to tapestries, and drinking wine under the stars with the locals was amazing. The beach is right on the corner from the hotel was really nice. The ocean is crystal clear and warm. No waves...like a big lagoon. We hired a couple of lounge chairs and slept. Get the crab pasta from the beach bar/restaurant. We talk about it to this day. Just up the road towards the Ferry is another great restaurant right on the water. I think it was called Gentedimare. Family owned and super friendly. Olga at the hotel recommended that we rent a boat from Marco (same family as Gentedimare owner!) and it was the highlight of our trip. We motored out to the other side of the island and swam in the coves all day long. The hotel itself has a great little infinity pool, a bar so you can take drinks out to the pool at sunset. There was a really beautiful garden with chairs to sun in, a wonderful and abundant breakfast, and absolutely everything you need to have an amazing time.

Room Tip: Rooms on the bottom floor have private hot tubs but they are open to the garden and not actually ver...

we just came back from our easter trip to Sardegna, where we spent 4 days in this hotel. although it was just the very beginning of the season, the hotel was great, nothing missing at all. very friendly and helpful and above all a wonderful beautiful clean room, great view over the golfo, nothing to complain about... except that we had to leave!! but we will come back for sure!!

Room Tip: sea view, 3rd floor!!

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The property is relatively small but intimate and elegant. The rooms were very clean, large, and had beautiful balconies with sea view.

The pool area was small, but the garden was very beautiful. Also, the hotel is just a few steps from the beach, which is a great plus. Breakfast selection was good as well.

Something to note is that during my stay the hotel ran out of water (apparently a common occurrence in some parts of Sardinia). They 'solved' the issue by filling the hotel's cistern with water from the swimming pool. Given the high rate they charge for the hotel rooms I was not very pleased with this situation. However, the next they had regular water running again.

While the beach at Golfo Aranci is nice, the town is very kind of new and has not much to offer. In addition, unlike anywhere else in Italy, the food at Golfo Aranci was not that good. Also, there is nothing to do in this town besides the beach. Thus, there are much better options in Sardinia than Golfo Aranci (e.g. Alghero or La Maddalena).

Our group stayed here from 20-27 October and it was all we hoped for. We had two rooms - a suite and a delux double room. Both had great bathrooms and balconies overlooking the sea. The rooms were spotless and carefully cleaned each day. The beds were excellent. Breakfast was a buffet with all the variety of foods you could want. It was late in the season but we were disappointed to find that the hotel restaurant had closed for the season. However the hotel's Owner helpfully suggested local restaurants for us to use.

The Owners were much in evidence even eating breakfast in the dining room. This makes a big difference in my experience. We would certainly stay at the hotel if we return to the area.

We stayed in late October half term The hotel is exceptionally clean and the grounds and pool terrace were beautiful. The reception staff were efficient on the whole (but unable to give information on how to get a film on Sky when stuck in room on wet day with 2 children) and friendly but not overly warm. The room was clean and had fabulous view of bay but marred slightly by building works on public terrace (just our bad luck as obviously temporary). It had no tea making facility in room which would have been nice. Beds were exceptionally comfortable. Bathroom had lovely deep bath and shower. Breakfast food was a little monotonous Fruit was tinned and tired. Eggs and bacon sat there too long sometimes and there wasnt always a lot available (but I have good appetite). Food was a little low quality eg orange juice was actually squash and fruit wasnt very nice Terrace by pool was beautiful but pool could and should be heated if open for guests in October. A steam room was available and was so clean and tasteful. Town wasn't really open with most shops shut for end of season and couldn't always easily find somewhere for lunch or evening meal. Prices were quite expensive in town restaurants. A car is a must. Beware Sixt car hire charged £15 for vacuuming up a little sand and said we were lucky not to be charged as much as £70. Scenery around coast absolutely stunning and beaches very quiet but still warm enough to swim. On the whole a good holiday but only when the sun shone (about half our time). I would go back but not as late in season as late October.

We chose the hotel having read so many favorable reviews and spent a wonderful 2 weeks in Sardinia. Golfo Aranci has enough restaurants, beaches and shops if you want a quiet and relaxing break but to get the most out of the country and the immediate surrounding area a car is really essential. In the first week we explored the Costa Smerelda, La Maddalena islands, beaches all along the North East coast and various drives throughout the Northern area through the beatiful hillside villages with their pastel painted houses.. The scenery ranges from cork woods, lunar landscapes, soaring jagged mountain peaks as well as the stunning vistas all along the coast of azure sea, cliffs and white sand beaches. The second week was mainly spent on various beaches along the north coast of the bay, only 10 minutes from the hotel and at this time of year virtually deserted despite 26 degree daytime temperatures. Cala Banana was our favourite but there are a lot of fabulous beaches within a short drive.
Back to the hotel review !! The staff are outstanding, unfailingly polite and seemingly able to converse in any European language. Our room, as I believe all do, had a westerly aspected balcony overlooking the bay, ideal for soaking up the last rays of sunshine and watching the sunset. With the season coming to an end the hotel was not full and we always managed to get a table on the terrace overlooking the pool but it would not have concerned us if we ate in the dining room as this also afforded views over the gardens and terrace. The quality and variety of the food was excellent. Other guests at the hotel were mainly German or Swiss with a few English couples but I gather that there is a wide diversity of nationalities depending on the national holiday patterns. Not many families/children at this time of the year but I can imagine that the hotel would be ideal for families having a safe enclosed garden and a beach about 100 yards away.
We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: I Don't know enough about the other rooms to make a recommendation but ours was a de Luxe twin a...
