“Uncomfortable beds”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed January 30, 2010

I stayed at this hotel for five nights at the end of November. After the second night of not being able to sleep because of the very poor standard of the mattress (the springs could be felt through the top padding) I requested it be changed. Despite being assured that the problem would be sorted, it was only on the last night, after three reminders, that we were given a change of room. I contacted customer relations who told me that the hotel would get in touch to apologise. Nothing happened. Eventually I received an apology from customer relations (not even a suggestion of recompense) .
I would not recommend this hotel if you need a good nights sleep in a good quality bed.

The room was a nice size with three windows overlooking the street. Open the windows and hear the sounds of traffic all the time. The room was squeaky clean.

Breakfast was an additional 13.50 Euro per day which is about $20. This is a typical price for breakfast. You can get breakfast items next door at the grocery store or at the train station to reduce the cost.

The best thing about this hotel is that I had a mini fridge and they gave you ice for the asking. Ice is a rare commodity in Germany. There are two discount grocery stores right next door where you can get some groceries.

The hotel does have a bar and a restaurant. There are not other nice places to eat close. You have to go about a kilometer into town to get something else. Opposite the direction of the train station.

The hotel is supposedly only 400 meters from the train station. It is a very long 400 meters when you are dragging bags or coming in from a day of touring. You cannot see the hotel from the train station so make sure that you get directions at the train station. The entrance to the hotel is up a steep incline from the street.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Garden Court for 2 nites, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the rooms clean and the dining excellent.

  • Liked — cleanliness, friendliness
  • Disliked — the long walk from the street up to the front entrance

I stayed 5 days in this hotel. Room was Ok.
Breakfast was Ok and especially main waitress was
very happy and helpful.
Only problem was parking because parking area is so
small and hotel location is not good.
