“awesome pool”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2013

This pool looks so amazingly from the inside. It follows the whole pirate carribean island style with palm treas, nice lights, pirate boats and everyhing. The slides there are really really awesome and you can also go outside and go to a jacuzzi or sauna. Very nice place where you can enjoy yourself for many hours.

Tiny rooms, really tiny, the family room has pull out bunk beds for the kids, once you pull them out you can't move anymore. No minibar, no AC, one kind of soap in bathroom. Tiny hall with sofas elbow to elbow with the next guest. Yes, it has one water slide. And it's really expensive.

The room and service wasn't anything special but doesn't everyone go for The Reef? This was like stepping into another world- such a relaxing place and great to take kids!! Breakfast was good too. We booked Family Superior so will had a little bit more space (and peace) at the end of a busy day.

I recently stayed here for business.

Very central to the town and transport links. 45 mins from Aalborg and the Ferries running in and out of Denmark.

Expect standard Denmark room. Ie two single beds. My room had no shower but that is no concern to me but may be for others. Also lacked a fridge and kettle.

TV had a good variety of English speaking programs.

Breakfast was standard Danish fare and was plentiful.

Buffet in the evening was similar. Did eat a couple of times at the restaurant around the back. Was expensive, but everything is in Denmark.

Laundry had to be taken to reception and personally by myself from reception. Which I have not seen anywhere else before.

Staff were always kind and willing to help.

Stayed here for one week due to working in frederikshavn. Found the hotel to be convenient to the centre of town and all it's amenities. The hotel public areas were all comfortable and clean, and I found the staff all to be very friendly and helpful. The rooms although a little dated, are comfortable and clean. I do not have any complaints with the rooms or public areas. The rooms only have a shower, not a bath, but this suited me. The rooms also do not have a safe. We had breakfast included, I found that this was generally good, with plenty of variety for all. Again the staff were very welcoming. The swimming pools all looked good and clean, although I didn't have the opportunity to use them. I thought all in all this was a decent hotel, I would definitely use it again if working in the area.

The hotel and waterpark have lots of activities/services for children keeping them occupied all day long. For adults they have a gym, 2 large saunas, 1 large steam bath, 5 large jacuzzis and complimentary Wifi. Activities and amenities are perfect for families with children. Too bad that the hotel doesn't live and comply fully this family concept.
Their check in/out policy with strictly check in at 4pm and check out at 11am is very difficult to handle for families with childrens obligations and preparations. I even asked for a chargeable late check out but they just refused it. This strict policy caused lots of queue in the reception at check in/out time. With only 2 representatives at the desk and everybody checking out at the same time, it was a nightmare and chaos. We had to stand in line for 15-20 minutes to check out.
Breakfast was just ordinary. If you come late everything is empty because the staff stops refilling 1hour before closing time.
The hotel was trying to up-sell everything. Even for hotel guests we had to rent extra towels for the children. Extra 5 DKR was charged for drinking glass deposit in the waterpark.
The room was just ok. A bit old fashioned with a CRT Television, no minibar, no bathtube, no aircondition and a bit noise from the outside jacuzzi.
All in all we will come back because the children love the waterpark.

Room Tip: Ask for rooms on the 4th floor. This is the upgraded 'pirate' floor

I've spend a weekend here with my wife and two year old son. We stayed in a "Pirate room" to my sons great amusement. The room was decorated thoroughly within the "pirate theme" and included a Nintendo Wii.

I hotel is really modern in all aspects and the Caribbean-theme of the hotel is almost complete in all senses. The water world in the middle of the hotel is really great and the restaurants on the hotel are as you would expect from a hotel restaurant in the Scandic-branch.

All in all: Take you family there for a weekend - you won't regret, we are definitely planning to go there again!
