“A "must-see" for tourists in the Fredericton Area of New Brunswick”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 11, 2014

Just 20 or so miles out of Fredericton, this living museum is an amazing place for adults and children alike. The whole settlement is a joy to walk around ( it was a hot day when we went so we were glad to duck into the "shops" and houses from time to time) and the shopkeepers are knowledgeable about their products and their skills (carpentry, cabinet-making, printing etc). The formal garden behind one of the houses is beautiful, and the whole place was well-kept, interesting and informative. Worth every penny of the entrance fee!

“Amazing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2014

We came upon this cute little village about 15 min. outside of Fredericton this morning as we were on our way to Notre Dame du Portage. We thought we'd go check it out for an hour and ended up staying all day. What a great place, much better and bigger than Upper Canada Village. They actually let you sit on the furniture and try on costumes from the 1800. The people in the village are all in character so when you speak to them it will feel like you are in the 1800; not that I've ever been there but I did read a few books related to that era and I noticed that they use the same language. I would highly recommend that you visit this place. The children who were between 8 and 12 seemed to really enjoy it. You will need a whole day to visit all the homes. The food at the restaurant was perfect, especially the home made bread and lemonade. I will be coming back to this lovely oasis. Thanks for reading my post.

“History”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 21, 2014

We recently made a visit to Kings Landing. Everything there was just as we remembered but this time we were able to notice a lot more detail. We noticed how all the staff did a great job of staying in character. That was something that really adds to the experience.

A lot of the staff that we met go to great lengths to be quite accommodating. Example, at the Joslin house, they met us and brought us in and dressed up my wife and daughter in authenticate clothing for a picture. The horse wagon driver, allowed us to bring on our daughters stroller so that we could go a bit longer and enjoy the ride.

I would recommend bring sunscreen, comfortable shoes, water & plenty of time. Everything there is worth seeing and it would be a waste to rush.

We ate at the Kings Head Restaurant. I wouldn't order what we had again or maybe it was just the day but both the turkey & chicken seemed to be quite dry. Nothing stood out as good or terrible. I would't not go but I might be more apt to pack a lunch and eat under a tree.

“Sharing our history with friends from the USA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2014

King's Landing is a "in character" village depicting life in the 1800's by showing you how family lived in decade segments of the 1800s by letting you into their day to day living in their homes. All guides are dressed in the fashion for that decade and their position in the community.
You will visit lawyers, farmers, shop owner, clerics and doctors as they go about their daily lives. Many of the family are "Empire Loyalist " who left the United States to stay true to the British Royalty.
The King's Head Inn is an excellent eating place with fare to match the era but not the prices. Their Sunday supper is really good with Yorkshire puddings and perfect roast of beef. Desert are diet breakers!!!!

“Fabulous, authentic but wear comfortable shoes!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

We've been to Kings Landing several times and never tire of it. It is done so perfectly, so authentic, such a true representation of mid-19th century New Brunswick, you couldn't ask for more.
One caution though.....it gets hot there in summer. Bring your sunscreen and wear comfortable shoes. Take advantage of the horse-drawn wagons for transportation...it is a long walk between buildings and up steep hills.
So if you are prepared for the weather, you will enjoy this place. Not crowded and you can actually SEE the exhibits rather than dodge crowds. Enjoy!
Just an FYI : this is not a place for small children and toddlers. They will get very little out of the experience other than getting over-tired and hot. The walking is tough and the streets are not paved....strollers would be difficult to maneuver.
