“Magical - Unreal - Serene - A MUST SEE!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 11, 2012

Wow, where to begin. Mohegan Bluffs is a strip of secluded beach with cliff on one side and the ocean on the other. The picturesque spot is magical and breathtaking, words cannot describe it properly. You MUST see this place if you visit block island! I recommend taking a blanket and either picnic or read a good book. It doesn't get much better than this place for relaxing and enjoying the beauty of things. A long winding staircase will take you most of the way down to the beach, but to go the full way down you must maneuver over some rocks (I wouldn't call it difficult but I wouldn't say it is easy either - I recommend sneakers to help!) Otherwise you can stop at the overlook when the stairs stop. My mother and I biked to Mohegan Bluffs from Old Harbor but you can drive, take a moped, or even walk (but the latter would take some time). If you decide to bike, you should know that you're going to have to bike uphill a lot. I am in decent physical shape and my legs got a bit tired nonetheless. My mother on the other hand had to walk some of the hills. The distance and effort are doable though and well worth it. I would also go so far as to say that this is the most difficult part of the island to bike. If you make it to mohegan bluffs from the direction of old harbor, the rest of the island will be less strenuous.

“Felt like a private peach”

Nice sandy beach to have a picnic and take a dip. A place you need to go. We went into the ocean at the end of September and the water was still warm. The waves were huge that day, we felt like kids.

“Free and Totally Excellent”

ten thousand steps down and up. The stairs are maintained yearly, not decrepit. One year met another family there and chatted and became best friends. At the bottom are piles and piles of stone markers, and a pirate hidaway, and other stuff people have constructed over the years. Oh, and the ocean.

“Great views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 30, 2012

It is a must see if you happen to be on Block Island. I would skip visiting both lighthouses just to see this cliff. From where the ferry lands to the bluffs is quite a long and hilly walk so it is better to rent a bike or a moped to get there. We rented bikes and biked first to the North Lighthouse, then through the island to the Mohegan Bluffs and Southeast Lighthouse. But I would say that such an agenda is for those who like biking and are in rather good condition. Otherwise you should decide if you prefer to see South or North of the Island. Since Mohegan Bluffs are on the North that would be my choice. Once you get there you can trek down the stairs. It is easy walk down and a bit challenging up. The view is breathtaking and even if you decide not to go down the cliff, you can enjoy the visit.

“Mohegan Bluffs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

Another bicycle trip over to the bluffs was well worth the trip.
It's a workout. Lots of steps to climb, very steep rocks to climb up and down w a rope to hold onto, can be tricky, you must be super careful, but once your down on the beach, awesome!!!
You look up and it's amazing. The water was lovely, the sand and the rocks. We were on honeymoon like setting, and it was picture perfect. Worth the climb!!!
