First impressions were good, a well lit car park with plenty of spaces. The room was clean & very well lit, even the shaving mirror- both very rare in the hotels I've stayed at. The room was warm, the flat screen T.V. worked (only four channels), the water was hot & at a good pressure. The wardrobe was close to the bed though, making it difficult to actually use it, some of the coat hangers were broken leaving only four useable hangers. The young lady who checked me in the first night later fetched me a plate & cutlery to eat my takeaway- the restaurant is closed Sunday nights, but it's o.k. to bring back food from the many takeaways in town- reception will even phone for food for you. The English breakfast was o.k., not so good Monday morning- the bacon & black pudding got a bit dry. There are cereals & fruit available. Room facilities include tea & coffee making stuff, soap/shampoo/shower cap, clock radio, telephone, and an early wake-up call can be arranged.
The railway station is only a minute or so walk from the hotel, the line passes behind the hotel car park but the noise from the railway isn't that intrusive.
Cheaper room rates available on weekends.
