Description: At Zizzi we like to do things a little differently. We don't do over-complicated recipes or scrimpy portion sizes. We're all about the well-chosen ingredients, simply put together to make exceptional Italian food. Our Wokingham restaurant is situated right of Broad Street, next to the High Street. Take a gander around the old market town and then rest your weary legs at ours and have a bite to refuel. The chefs table allows a close up view of the kitchen at work, while leather booths and the conservatory area are perfect for a more private dining experience. If you're ever in the area, come see the Mulberry bushes, the Tudor houses and Zizzi. And if you're celebrating something special our party menus are perfect!

“Helpful and courteous staff, I would go again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 6, 2013

We hadn't booked as we had intended to go to Prezzo's (if you read the other review you will know why we left).

Went to Zizzi to try and salvage the evening. Manager was busy but polite and fitted us in. Waiting staff were clearly under pressure but drinks and food arrived promptly and waiter even apologised for any delays.

Starter of mixed sea food platter was good. Pizza looked like it had been done in a hurry and was either burnt or not cooked.

Overall, a good experience.

“A great night out at Zizzi, Wokingham”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 25, 2013

Zizzi at Wokingham is a great place to go for a relaxing dinner. The staff are friendly. The food is always fantastic, and so is the wine. It's my favourite place to dine out in Wokingham. Definitely worth a visit if you have not been before.

“Let down by a previous favourite”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 21, 2013

Used to love this restaurant, but this evening decided to order my favourite Lasagne; what a big disappointment! it has gone from being the best lasagne locally to a plate of mush; I may as well purchase a microwave version from my local supermarket. The mixed salad was just three plum tomatoes with a handful of lettuce, no dressing, most unappetising. What a waste of money, definitely not going there again.

“Disappointed Regulars”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 6, 2013 via mobile

My girlfriend and I are regulars at Zizzi Wokingham, we go there fortnightly. There are 2 different sets of staff under different managers, some staff are excellent and one manager is excellent the other staff are slow and poor and the main manager is so grumpy! The food is always decent as you would expect from a chain but as regulars here we would expect some kind of welcome and thanks but we never get that. On this occasion the service was poorer than ever wait waited a total of 30 minutes from having our plates cleared to get and then pay for our bill. We simply weren't paid any attention by our waiter at all - the waiter actually took the payment from a table of 2 next to us who had been waiting less than 5 minutes before he came to us! Will not be returning to zizzi for quite some time they've lost a regular customer.

“Good food and reasonable service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 3, 2013

For a chain restaurant, the food served up at Zizzi was very good.

Our table of seven was seated at 7.00pm and drinks orders were promptly taken by a member of staff who introduced himself. He also took a moment to talk us through the extensive menu, showing us where to find starters, mains, drinks and desserts.

A selection of breads were ordered for the table; garlic bread with mozzarella and caramelised onions (huge portion and very tasty), tomato and pesto bread (another big portion and also tasty) and the Italian bread bucket (the word 'bucket' suggested this would be big but the 'bucket' was more of a small tin with a handle, so pretty disappointing). The sticks of bread in the bucket (or tin) were a little limp looking. They certainly didn't look as appetising as the others that were ordered. Olives were also ordered but the portion was disappointingly small and the purple olives outnumbered the 'giant' nocellaras by about 5:1!

With the starters cleared away, there was quite a wait for the main courses, but the wait was worth it. My Rustica Sofia pizza was enormous and served on a large wooden board. Generous chunks of chicken, spicy sausage and pepperoni were thrown on top, along with a variety of herbs. With a generous drizzling of the restaurant's chilli infused olive oil, it was delicious!

The dessert menu offered nothing to my liking. Many of the desserts on there were very ordinary English dishes but instead given a fancy name i.e. Mela croccante - or as we know it, apple crumble! With some priced at almost £6.00, the value for money wasn't the best.

Almost two and a half hours after sitting down to dinner, we were ready to leave. A starter, main course and coffees, followed by a bit of chat took this long. Most of this time was spent waiting for food.

For a high street restaurant, the food was much better than was expected, and the prices were also quite reasonable. What I didn't like the most was the noise. Never I have come across such a noisy restaurant. Leaving the restaurant was a strange feeling - going from such intense noise from other diners to the peacefulness of the street.
