“Not a bad Premier Inn - Terrible breakfast”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2011

Stayed here after a day at Haydock Races. Didn't fancy the pub at the night time so we went to the Carr Mill on the main East Lancs Road A580 which was great. Breakfast at the hotel pub was very poor - no where near usual Premier Inn standards. Avoid.

Note in the family room, the third person sleeps on a mattress on the floor. OK if your little, but my lad is 15 yes old and 6th tall.

We had a good meal (lunchtime) which was reasonably priced. Service was friendly and quick and we stayed for quite a while after the meal had finished, chatting and relaxing. All in all it was good value for the price.

Having stayed at this hotel, i would never stay their again. They might advertise rooms from £29 but unless you book about 6 weeks in advance you will pay in excess of £60. Room quality is average as standard but service is very regimental as even if you wish to pay by cash they still want to take credit card info which i was unhappy about. Location is very poor as on a dual carrigeway from liverpool to manchester so can be noisy and is about 5 miles from the St helens centre and nightlife. Also get ready to pay extra for breakfast.

Only stayed one night on business, but found the staff helpful and friendly, the hotel clean and comfortable and comparable with most of the northern Premier Inn's

I have spent many nights in Premier Inn's and they are all good, but most of the northern based are not quite as good as the southern, not that they are bad.

The only downside to this is the breakfast room, which I found a little dark and glum, staff great and helpful food OK, only had breakfast, but it was a bit like having breakfast in a pub.
