I stay in loads of Holiday Inn hotels for work and they are all generally quite good.

I can't complain about the room as it was clean ect.

I decided to eat in the seasons restaurant as it was more expensive so I thought the qualty of food woud be good. I ordered Teriyaki beef stirfry which cost about £13.75 so I would expect the slices of beef to be of a really good quality.
It was disgusting. It was bland, the vegetables were not fresh, some of the meat was chewy and the sauce was rubbish. I had waited about 35 mins for it to arrive also.

I left most of it but when I complained, the waitress said that because it was cooked to the correct temperature, there was nothing they could do except offer me a free drink at the bar, I was only drinking diet coke!!! So I paid in disgust.
I could cook that dish 10 times better for two people, using all fresh ingrediants for about a fiver!!! I get really annoyed when restaurants palm you off with rubbish food and have the cheek to charge you a fortune. Why not employ a proper chef???

Also, in the morning, the waitress asked me if I would like Tea or Coffee, I said tea but she completely forgot. Why ask? sorry , that's a bit harsh, the girls were very busy.

I didn't get a chance to check out the health club.

Please accept my apologies that your food was not delivered to the standard expected, despite your comments we do recieve a high number of compliments about our food, albeit your comments suggest the opposite, I would be happy to discuss your feedback with you in person on your next visit or by telephone, once again thank you for your comments, as it is only feedback such as yours which allows us to monitor the standards that our customers expect of the Holiday Inn Brand.

I stayed here for a few nights during January on business

It does seem like someone has given this place a make-under, perfectly recreating the feel and look of a 70's hotel.

The room hadnt been decorated in a fair while I would think, and the furniture had seen better days - maybe I was just in an old wing...

The restaurant was ok, all of the usual holiday inn fare, just not as good and very difficult to get the attention of staff

I cant complain about one thing in particular, it was just all a bit wrong

Only spent the one night here, pleased really.
it's a lovely hotel, the reception area is like one of those that you find in southeast asia, but without the flunkies.
The staff are generally helpful and i got a room upgrade woo hoo!
Instead of the double room i booked, Got one with a really nice, though old, bathroom, 2 single beds, a tiny old telly on a stand and a desk which was full with tea and coffee equipment and nowhere else to put it. It was also 100 yards from the lift in a freezing corridor, if this is an upgrade, next time I'll sleep in the car. To be fair, the room and the whole hotel was spotless and every member of staff, every last one, was polite helpful and welcoming.
The evening meal was ermmmm odd
Tomato and peppers soup which needed ANYTHING to kill the taste, a cottage pie with undercooked meat and a huge bowl of greasy cabbage serves as seasonal vegetables. Then a really delicius, a truly awesome fruits of the forest cheesecake.. in a glass.
Breakfast was dreadful
if you are booked in room only and they offer you a breakfast for FREE, take it, any more and just get some road kill, it will be fresher.
Bacon was like leather having been cooked sometime last year and kept hot, the mushrooms were like rubber but tasted not unlike plastic, the fried eggs were sunny side up, but burnt after being kept warm for too long. A croissant the size and shape of a big toenail was the only offering in the pastries department.

This is really a shame because I'm sure it is a good budget hotel and the staff are really very good, thin on the ground, but good.

I'll go back one day, of course I will but only if everywhere else in the area is full.

  • Liked — The Staff - everyone was wonderful
  • Disliked — breakfast was vile and the evening meal was an embarrasment

Dear Reviewer, thank you for your comments. I was please to read such postive comments about the team and the overall cleanliness of the hotel, it seems that the staff made you feel that nothing was to much trouble for them. I was disapointed to read that the team were not given the opportunity to rectify any of your problems encountered in the restaurant, especially when your review has highlighted how helpful the staff were during your stay. I hope that you will use the hotel in the future as I would welcome the opportunity to discuss your feedback furtherover a coffee, once again thank you for your feedback.

Four of us came for lunch on the way back from a meeting at a nearby company. We ordered four club sandwiches, which took nearly an hour to arrive - even though it did not seem busy. When they did finally make it the chips were stone cold. The interval between ordering and the food finally arriving gave us the opportunity to watch the eviction of a drunk/stoned guest and friend...

Overall I was really disappointed with the service and food. I complained and was instantly given a 50% discount so I suspect the people on duty knew how appalling it was.

After ordering coffees which never arrived, we gave up and left.

I won't be going back anytime soon - in fact for the January meeting we went to a new Weatherspoons pub nearby which was ten times better and half the price - I'd avoid this place.

Thank you for your comments following your recent visit to the Holiday Inn Corby.
We were surprised and extremely disappointed to learn of your poor experience and would like to apologise to you and your colleagues for this.
We have an excellent reputation within the immediate area and local businesses use us not just for day meetings but for overnight accommodation due to the high standard of our food and service compared with many of our competitors.
We are clearly very concerned about the incident regarding the other guests being escorted out the hotel however we cannot find anything about this in our duty management hand-over book where this type of incident is recorded, for many reasons including our liquor licence.
Please can you contact myself, Samantha Whitelock General Manager on
01536 401020, to confirm the date of your visit as clearly this needs further investigation urgently.
We would of course like to welcome you back when you are next in the area to hopefully enjoy a snack with us and take advantage of the other facilities we offer in our lounge including free wifi.

Thanks for a great stay! The hotel is absolutely spotless, I stayed in Room 135 which was very spacious, clean and comfortable. The free wifi is a fantastic bonus, meaning i could work from the comfort of my room. The Leisure facilities are fantastic, ideal if you are staying for a few nights and want to relex in the sauna or jacuzzi. The restaurant and bar staff were friendly and chatty and made me feel most welcome. Thanks again - I'll be back soon!
