It is difficult to review this because in the end we were happy but I can't mark the experience more than average overall because of some of the things that went wrong.
To start we were left to wait to be seated for a very long time bearing in mind I could see at least 5 staff doing other things like cleaning tables etc we were just left to stand there. Secondly we waited a ridiculous amount of time for our drinks and the table next to us complained about waiting for someone to take their order.
My mum complained about waiting for drinks and they came. We then all ordered our food which actually came relatively quickly. My husband ordered a love lamb shank pie and my mum ordered guinea fowl which they both really enjoyed. Unfortunately my fish and chips came with mushy peas that had hardened from being left sitting and the fish was dried out and the batter was rock hard and I couldn't cut through it. I complained and received a new fresh serving. This time is was much nicer.
It was light a the bater was crisp and the peas were good.
After this the manager cottoned on we were a bit irritated and the man next to us had to send his back as well. After this we were treated very well and we ordered delicious puddings. I hate the peanut butter and chocolate cheesecake and my husband had the crumble. Both yummy. As an apology for the issues Rachel the manager offered us the cheesecake free and I had a voucher for signing up to the website for 20% off which worked out reasonable.
Overall I can tell it is a nice place and the good is good normally. We have had good reports from friends as well so I guess it was just bad luck. All 3 of us would go again and Rachel the manager really made amends for the issues so hopefully next time we go I will be able to give 5 stars.
