“Consistently fail to address the basics”

I stay regularly at this hotel on business and it really is a hotel of two halves. The staff are very pleasant and visible, the rooms are okay (standard Hilton offerings), public areas are welcoming and the food is nice (if overpriced). However they consistently fail to get the basics right and here are a couple of examples. Some of you may think me harsh but my role is Customer Experience and Continuous Improvement and if a hotel can't even get the basics right, then what hope do they have of delighting me?
1. Every morning for breakfast I have smoked salmon and there always used to be wedges of lemon available to drizzle over it. The last three times there hasn't been and when I have enquired the staff seem very surprised and say 'Oh, I can't understand that there should be'. If someone has brought it to your attention would it not be an idea to make sure there was lemon available?
2. Every time I check in I am asked if I would like a newspaper. 'Yes please The Times'. This is then repeated back to me in confirmation and I watch them enter it into the computer. Last two visits no newspaper. When I point this out the look of surprise on their faces is something to behold.......yet still no paper materialises. Lots of apologies and 'I will make sure this doesn't happen again' and 'I will bring this to the attention of the management team'.......yet still they fail to implement what should be a very simple process. Last evening the guy checking me in even said 'Welcome back Mr Heaven, it's The Times you have isn't it?' What a nice touch that he 'delighted' me but then failed so miserably to follow through on what he had promised.

Come on Hilton sort it out, you've been in this game a long time but it's getting to the stage where the only reason I stay is because of the gym, but I'm sure there are other hotels with gyms............

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts and on the opposite side to the main road.

Whilst away with business I had difficulty in obtaining a room r a second night. Thanks to the teh management of the Hotel I was able to do so and enjoyed a friendly and comfortable night sp that iw as fresh for the next day. The food was good nand the staff very friendly.

As a business traveler I was looking for a good hotel and a reasonable rate. With previous experience at the Hilton Bracknell, I was happy to find a great rate on the Hilton (Bracknell) web site, as long as I was willing to prepay for the stay.

The hotel is not new and the rooms reflect the smaller European expectations for a room. Space for storage of clothing was practically non-existent forcing the use of my suitcase for some items. The hot water faucet for the bathroom sink fit the British term "wonky" to a tee. To get hot water you had to both turn the valve as well as pull out. Obviously in need of replacement. I was seriously concerned about slipping in the tub when taking a shower; a safety mat would have been appreciated.

The restaurant in the hotel has a great selection for breakfast. Be sure to talk to them in advance about whether your "package" includes the breakfast and dinner or not. Without this being included, it is prohibitively expensive. Use of a local pub is not only less expensive, but a whole lot more enjoyable. Plenty of local, fun pubs to choose from. The best in my opinion is The Golden Retriever, not too far away. You will need transportation if you want to sample the pubs.

Room Tip: The standard room has a twin bed. You will need to negotiate an upgrade if you want a larger bed.

I arranged a family wedding celebration in the Hilton, it was so well planned by the hotel. Can't be thankful enough for the friendly and so very helpful staff. Alison Dawson at Braknell Hilton gave us the best service possible. The day was perfect.

The Lobby/Reception service is good as one would expect from the Hilton Group. For our lunch, on arrival, we ordered baguettes from the bar area. Unfortunately, when they eventually arrived they were not baguettes but sandwiches. The Hotel bedrooms and, in particular, the bathrooms are in need of refurbishment. Too many broken/loose tiles in the bathroom.

It is a fair hotel, if you are on a businesstrip. It urgently requires lots of refurbishment. Service is good, people are friendly and helpfull. Wouldn't go there with my familiy (but who would go to Bracknell if not on a Businesstrip)
Even HHonors Gold is not helping much other then getting an upgrade to a large room...
I was expecting more from a HIlton Hotel.

The entrance, lobby and food areas are good. The rest of the hotel including the bedrooms are very tired and dated. A new design is greatly needed, just some paint and some basic maintenance is needed.
