“In Need of Some TLC”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 7, 2013

I generally try to balance the good and bad in my reviews, but here it was difficult to find much positive to say.

The good news probably relates to the decor on the ground floor and the smiling welcome from the reception team. Arrival was very good - the car park had ample spaces and I was made to feel important at check in. Come to think of it, check out was good too.

And there the good ends. I had a room on the 4th floor - a room which, on the face of it, should have been good. It was large, had a good sized bathroom with separate, walk in shower complete with side jets. However the first thing I found was that the air con unit didn't work (it just said "error" and turned itself off) so the room was hot. Then the freestanding light flickered and went out. And in the bathroom I noticed a small trail of water around the toilet leading me to believe it was leaking. Oh and the tiles on the shower step were coming away. The bed wasn't up to the normal Hilton standard either - it was OK but nothing special.

I had dinner in the bar - a rather dry steak and kidney pudding which was nevertheless hearty and filling.

Breakfast is served in the restaurant. On the morning I was there, much of the restaurant was not in use. Unfortunately the brighter area near the windows had been closed and everyone was crammed into the darker, internal seating areas. Staff didn't notice that items on the buffet needed replenishing so the dishes sat empty for some time. And when they did come out, they hadn't seen a heat source for some time.

So, in summary I have to say it was a pretty poor experience for a Hilton. Previous comments here do suggest that the hotel is due its makeover and I would certainly support that thought. The sooner the better, please.

we arrived to a cheery receptionist ,who said that we had an upgrade and read to us where to find the room etc.walked to the room to the extended part of the hotel and felt let down ,the room was made up for a family, even though we only requested for a couple and a double, none of the upgrade items were in the room,i.e the slippers, wine, chocolate and robes,as this was a birthday surprise.had to ring for the items,no choice of wine, only red was given.and when we returned to our hotel later that evening, was greeted with someone using the front wall as a urinal and a large party going on,girls with drink outside swearing and smashed glasses.totally let the place down and lots of car doors slamming.very disappointed.a comment form was left but yet to recieve any response.prints up the wall, looked like cats paw prints?

Room Tip: not worth the expensive full price for rooms ,definately needs an update on decor.

Always well looked after at the Hilton in Bracknell.
Where possible they give me an upgrade for continued business and the rooms are always very spacious.
I think the charges for internet are ridiculous, a big brand should not need to charge for WI-FI.
Breakfast is always a great choice when included in the rate.
Showers are somewhat dated and a little run down.
Ample car park but generally place needs a facelift.
Staff always friendly

Room Tip: Get a club room where possible, better location and better sizes.

Despite the price paid the hilton at bracknell has old furnishing. The room had a dirty bathroom with the water closet dirty with urine. The staff assigned me another room after my complain. Internet connection not found but was not that necessary for my needs

This hotel is awful - it needs a complete overhall and the restaurant needs to close - it gives food a bad name. The buffet consisted of two items both poor with no imagination whatsoever, half the starters were missing, cold vegetables that looked like the cook in the bag ones from the supermarket, boring potatoes - no dressing, and jam tart for a pudding - surely a joke but sadly not. Gruesome. The room was dated, the heating in the corridors non existant, ceiling on 4th floor missing exposing cables, the staff were helpful and friendly though but they're fighting a losing battle with a hotel that appears to be falling down around them. Please give this hotel a very wide birth until it has a complete re-vamp if not re-build, and that awful restaurant and its terrible food is replaced with somewhere to eat.

nice hotel on the outside, work away a lot, stay in a lot of hotels ,all over the uk,never had anything stolen before, untill i stayed here, left my wallet in my bag with £20 in it,went to work, came bk to my room after work, thought id go for a pint took my wallet out my bag,and my £20 had gone, could not believe it,the fact that someone had gone into my bag ,in my room, informed managers,(yes there was two of them), which they took details,i informed them that if they did not get to the bottom of it,i would inform the police, they told me they would come and see me ,when i got back from work, the following evening, with an update, what they did not tell me they had the day off,so after spending a couple of hours waiting for them i decided to ask at reception, who informed me they was off,and bought another manager out,so that was 3 so far,and still gettin nowhere,so i told him to phone the ploice, which produced another manager,at the end of the day,i decided not to bother,my advice to anyone that stays here,DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR ROOM,NOT EVEN YOUR BAGS,THEY MIGHT GO IN IT..!!,im still here till sunday, not by choice, keep away from room 229,its bad luck, ive cursed it...!!!

Room Tip: not room 229

Not a bad hotel - good location for legoland and coral reef - just a bit tired and in need of refurb. To be fair this is refelceted in the price - we got a family room for £71.... so compared to premier inn / travelodge - this is great value. Noise is a real problem with lots of noise from car park on one side and the corridor on the other. More reflective of the guests that the hotel though, as most people know it's impolite to let kids use the corridor as a playground late at night and that drunken fish wives wailing on their way back to the rooms gone midnight is generally not pleasant.
