Yes, once again it's all about the only thing a weary traveller really needs, apart from a decent shower. What a shame the mattresses can't talk, I'd love to hear some seventies stories. It was like sleeping (ahem) on a quarry floor. If you can get past that, the rooms are small and dark, but with a vintage hawaii/bali rattan feel, and dated linen, just like your Queensland Nana's sunroom. You can open the wall of louvred glass shutters on a balmy night, if your'e not afraid of any wee bugs. It is really quaint and basic, quiet, no food to be had, not much service, I think the owner was away, or maybe it's just the beachy way. Cutie pool, reasonably clean in a little garden. Car to Byron, but a great newly refurbished pub a few blocks away, great menu. Fantastic beach a few minutes walk. All up, new beds would take this little spot from fair to good, and great value, given the outlandish resort options nearby. And the shower was excellent.

I'm really sorry to read you didnt have a good nights sleep in our little motel, but just to clarify, the mattresses are in fact all new within the last 10 months. Being a sub tropical climate we of course have mozzie screens on all the windows, perhaps you didnt see them. As you said, with some of the rather "outlandish prices" in Byron Bay I feel we provide comfortable 3 star accommodation right at the beach for a very affordable price. I do hope you will stay with us again.
