“great for a quick get away”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 8, 2014

Great resort located about 5 mins drive out of the main Byron township.

The resort is quite spread-out, however accommodation is across 2 general areas. One group sits close to the main resort facilities (spa, pool, restaurant), with the other group about 5 mins walk from the facilities, and a further 5 mins walk to the beach.
There are large board walks throughout the resort, allowing you to walk through the rainforest and enjoy it.

The resort pool looked great, but it was raining so we didn't try it. The restaurant and spa were both fabulous - for once it seems they werent after-thoughts, just a very high quality restaurant and high quality spa attached to accommodation. The spa was great (with the best massage I've had in a long while), with a chance to soak in a hot spa before going in for treatments. Restaurant served up great dinners, lots of local produce on the breakfast buffet and the staff went out of their way to help with meals for our daughter (including running meals through blenders etc).

Free yoga at 8am was good - more of a mid-level yoga. Mats provided.

Staff at every part of the resort were great - seemed to be genuinely interested and went out of their way to help us, chatting to us or keeping our daughter entertained. When we had a problem with the TV they were in our room within 5 mins getting it up and running again.

The room fittings were a bit tired. They were in the middle of refurbishing the resort, so hopefully this will be fixed soon. The room was a great size for us - bedroom, lounge, kitchenette (with washing machine and dishwasher). The bedroom is separated from the lounge by a sliding door, so if you are a light sleeper, it probably wont be private enough for you.
Bassinet and bedding were provided at a small cost. the big issue we had with the room was the bed was just too soft. It did cause a bit of a sore back for us, but the masseuse at the spa dealt with that quickly.

free wifi was patchy in the resort - if you are relying on it for work then you can use the cable broadband in the room.

Would really recommend this resort if you were looking to just get away from everything. No real need to leave the resort if you just want to chillax for a few days.

Room Tip: decide if you want to be closer to the beach or the main facilities, then book appropriately.

The offering of this resort is fantastic - a lush green setting with forest fresh air to fill your lungs each morning before a stroll to the nearby Tallow beach is a perfect way to the start the day; a heavenly spa treatment is an ideal way to wind down from a busy lifestyle in Sydney and the privacy of the well appointed Cypress suites to enjoy dinner brought to you from the restaurant top off a lifestyle you could get used to!

The resort is a 6-7 minute drive to Byron centre, which is very manageable given the lack of traffic and availability of free parking.

Breakfast at the resort is okay - it isn't 5-star but there is plenty to choose from (cooked breakfast, fruit, cereals, pastries) and will get you started for the day. Dinner and lunch are better and worth trying at least once.

A couple of missing extras for me included a $1 charge for a razor blade and a $5 charge for a barista coffee at breakfast. Certainly paying for these items doesn't break the bank having forked out >$400 per night for your room, but it has become expected that such items are included given they are widely provided at no charge by other 'top end' hotels.

Overall a fantastic getaway and somewhere I will go back to.

Room Tip: The Cypress suites are located toward the back of the resort and are very peaceful. It is about a 5...

There is something really special about the Byron @ Byron. It is set in beautiful bushland, the service is amazing, the rooms are huge, the restaurant is wonderful. It is hard to fault this resort, in fact, I can't. It is about 6 mins drive from the city centre and there is the hotel shuttle which runs every few hours or you can easily take a taxi. I noticed many "girl's weekends" taking place whilst I was there but it is also the perfect romantic getaway. Stylish, sophisticated and gorgeous... highly recommend this resort.

This would be our 5th stay here & we love it! Love the rainforest setting, & access walk to beach(un-patrolled)the boardwalk area to take in the scenery & wild life is lovely!! We saw an echidna during this stay & snake previous stay:) it is a 5-10 min drive out of town but they do offer a shuttle throughout the day though if staying out later need to catch taxi or drive own vehicle. The rooms are lovely & modern with full kitchen, laundry, safe, plasma tv, beautiful comfy bedding/king size bed and the spa is heavenly!!(in spa deluxe room) the pool is huge & reception/lounge/day beds and dining is all beautiful. Check in/out was quick & staff are friendly. Room service is decent food but definitely recommend & prefer eating in the restaurant foods great there! Plenty of great restaurants/cafés available in town too. Only few suggestions for improvements.. I think for the price being paid the bikes available for hire could be offered free of charge and the aircon is quite loud during the night. Will def return for many years to come :)

A nice relaxed end to our honeymoon. We stayed for one weekend just before leaving Byron. Was a great way to just completely relax before heading back to reality. The walk around the resort is lovely, food at the restaurant isn't bad (except the dessert chef got a little carried away with her decorations and gave our vegan visitor, meringue/egg on her plate.
The staff are very relaxed here, but still polite and do a good job.
The major letdown for me was the bathroom - it's not a quality fit out and feels a bit more like luxury camping than a 5 star resort. The spa bath faces a very ugly shower (reminiscent of a urinal in full stainless steel) and because the spa is hollow, once on, you can't relax because the noise vibrates all around you.
I enjoyed the room service, well stocked mini bar, great place to zone out, read a book and listen to the birds. A weekend was just right - any longer you might get bored.

Room Tip: I stayed in the Rivergum block after walking around and checking out the suites on arrival. Nice and...

The rooms are dated and noisy. We could clearly hear our neighbours conversation in the next door room and could hear them walking and going to the toilet. Definitely not for a couples or romantic get away. Here is a video here http://youtu.be/iEjG-vZAuk4 of our room air-conditioner. It was freezing cold at night and this is what we endured! It was so loud it sounded like a diesel truck. We found the staff rude & arrogant, they do not accept any complaints and has a them and us mentality. We couldn't relax while cleaning staff would regularly have loud extended conversations with each other from one room balcony to another. The general manager signs his name without integrity in a note in the front of a promotional book about the resort that says "we can make the impossible possible" however, when we asked for a simple hot breakfast it was apparently not possible. Condescending arguments from the manager of the restaurant and we had to eat the virtually cold inedible food in the buffet that had been sitting there so long it was wet, soggy, over cooked and at dangerously low temperatures. The manager told us it was our fault for coming too late for breakfast, even though we were there at 9:30 & it finished at 10:45. My wife suffers from Asperger's Syndrome and has social fears and anxiety. Certainly this resort made it so intolerable for her after the staff were gossiping, she felt harassed and we pretty much had to stay in our room or catch a taxi to the town ($30 return as it is a LONG way from town) as we couldn't even take the 'courtesy bus' after the driver also had opinions and wanted to let us know, further embarrassing us and making my wife more anxious (something people with Asperger's should never be subjected to as it is debilitating). In our view, the staff are not able to handle people with social problems such as Asperger's which was clear from the restaurant managers comments and lecture to us. We were offered a complimentary breakfast but why would we eat there again? There was no way my wife, with her disability, was going to be able to go again as she now felt harassed by the staff. Her anxiety levels got so high from the staffs behaviors that it ruined the stay and we just couldn't wait to leave. She now has to recover from the ordeal with another week off work. It is our view that the staff need training with dealing with vulnerable people who may have disabilities. The resort is more like cabins in a caravan park than a 5 star resort in our view. We note that every time someone puts a real and honest review on this site the general manager comes on and undermines the person - pay attention to the negative comments they are the only real ones. It clearly shows how the resort is unable to take any criticism and prefers to discredit the guest that was treated badly by the staff. If you want to know more just contact us. We are now seeking legal advice for compensation.

Room Tip: The rooms are noisy and open, not sure if there are any better rooms. we paid extra for a top floor...

The Byron at Byron provided the perfect conference and accommodation space for our bi-annual company retreat.

The process of planning to execution was seamless and our team enjoyed a two night, three day event in the tranquil surrounds.

The team at the resort provided excellent service both before and during our stay and attended to all our requirements professionally and with ease.

The food was exceptional and included a variety of options to cater to different team requirements, whilst still delivering a beautiful product.

I would highly recommend the retreat and we will definitely be back again!

Room Tip: The resort has two accommodation locations, one close to the resort reception and restaurant or the...
