“Convenient but tired.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 4, 2013

I have just spent 2 weeks staying at the Waldorf at Pennant Hils, chosen only because it was impossibly to find accommodation closer to the city over Christmas / New Year for 14 days straight. I have stayed here before but was surprised how the hotel has deteriorated. From our arrival all was not well as we were booked into a room that we specifically stated we did NOT want as most bookings are done through a central agency the desk staff went to much trouble to get us into a suitable room.
The carpets throughout the corridors and rooms were in dire need of cleaning, with very prominent staining to be seen, and the walls and doors were screaming out to be painted. Our one bedroom apartment was small but adequate, with a separate bedroom which was separated from the living area with double glass doors giving no privacy. WHY? The room had King size bed in an area that was far too small allowing for only a bedside table and lamp on one side and access to the bed from the window side extremely difficult. Climbing in from the end of the bed was the most accessible way to get into bed. The valance around the bed was torn and bedraggled. The cupboard space was sufficient.
The kitchen was small, but had everything one needed. However I would question why the microwave was placed above the fridge with a pull down door rather than a side opening one. This was very dangerous when trying to remove very hot items, unless you were very tall.
The bathroom had a bath with shower over it and a bonus washer/ dryer which was very useful. There was also a coin operated laundry for those apartments without a machine. Despite being there for 2 weeks we we only given 2 towels, and had to take them to reception to get replacements as the room was only serviced weekly. Why not leave 2 towels per person?
The gym was surprisingly well fitted out with relatively new equipment, and plenty of space to work out, but the pool was the most uninviting I have ever seen in a hotel and in need of some serious maintenance.
With the benefit of free security parking it was still quite good value for Sydney and the train was only a 5 minute walk away, as we're some really good restaurants, and a supermarket.
However I get very annoyed having to pay $50 per week for Internet when one can go to nearly every cafe around and use theirs for free.
The Waldorf chain needs to give some serious attention to their tired premises, at least a carpet clean and a lick of paint would be a good start.

Stayed here two nights after having two nights of horror on an uncomfortable bed at the Ibis Thornleigh. Was reluctant to stay here again as I had a bad experience years earlier when it was called the Chifley. (Monster cockroach on my pillow in the morning and another in the bathroom). The bed was a relief as they have ensembles! Thank god! The carpet was in need of a steam clean but apart from that, it was reasonable . Maybe a fresh coat of paint or a picture on the wall would of brightened it up a bit. It's in need of a revamp. If your a coffee lover - FOrget it! The worst I've ever had, the size of a milkshake, boiled of its head - funny actually, we took pics and put on Facebook. Sorry whoever made it, but please learn to drive the machine!!
Tattoo on ladies arm at reception isn't a good look.....

Just stayed at the Waldorf Apartments in Pennant Hills and I was quite surprised how old the apartments are. For the price of the apartment I would have thought you would get free internet, but no. The room has a very old fashion TV, even the bathroom needs up dating. The room was clean, and there was no noise from the very busy road outside. Very good spot if you are leaving Sydney and head north.

My partner was in town and he went ahead and booked the room.
I had met him after I finished work on Wednesday night.
I had seen the other reviews on this site and many others and wasn't too sure what too expect.
When I arrived in the lobby it was gorgeous. High ceilings, lovely furniture and was greeted by a lovely woman at reception as I walked past.
I entered the lift. But needed a room key, which I didn't ask. So I asked reception and she let me up.
Only thing was, she said it was for security reasons, but my partner had said he just walked up the stairs.
So not much security really.
Room was 105 - studio room
Not much of a view.
Huge tree with lots of other plants.
Room was well lit. Huge television. Which was a plus, even 5 star hotels these days don't have a television that large.
Dining table for 2
Queen size bed which was reall comfortable and so were the pillows
Kitchenette was all that we needed had everything and more than some hotels we've stayed in.
2.5 seater couch, coffee table and lamps
Alarm clock. Only one side table
Bathroom was large, ample space to put things on the bench near the basin. Some places you struggle too place anything on or near the basin without it falling off.
Minimal light no heater or fan but it's a bathroom after all.
Shower head was great. Able to take off and use as a hand held device which was great as many other 5 star hotels struggle too get this correct. Water was a good temp.
Everything we needed and more for our one night stay.

Had room service for dinner - 2 chicken pama's $18.90 each large portions was very nice. Worth the money

Otherwise our stay was perfect.
And would stay again if we were ever in the area.
Thanks for the lovely no fuss stay

The hotel is value for money. I misunderstood the fact that the studio apartment would be larger but in fact a 1 bedroom apartment is larger with a bed located upstairs in a loft which is great for a small family. A studio apartment is okay for a family on a short stay but we stayed for 2 full weeks and luckily we were able to get a 1 bedroom apartment after a few days stay.

Room Tip: Be wary of the fire alarms as the detection systems are very sensitive.3 fire alarms during our stay...
