“Excellent setting, average food, poor service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 6, 2013

This restaurant is perfectly located with tables overlooking the bay. The menu is quite good and contains the usual pizzas and pastas that you would expect. Unfortunately our waiter had only just started and did not know very much about any of the dishes. Our starter was brought incorrectly and when we complained to another waiter he said that he would go and check what we had ordered in rather a surly manner. When he had then checked that we were telling the truth he replaced one of the dishes so that we received our correct order. The seafood spaghetti was tasty although not outstanding. The rack of ribs was huge and tasty but not exactly haute cuisine. I wish that we hadn't bothered with a sweet as the bought in cake and ice cream were nothing to write home about. We were kept waiting around before the bill was eventually brought. All other meals in Malta were of a better quality.

“good food, terrible service”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 2, 2013

Great pizzas & food, waiters were in their own world though, getting our plates picked up as they walked by, looking @ our table empty handed & then still not picking them up- irritating..... asking for the bill.......taking forever as our waiter went to clear other tables & do side work..... meh- we ate & left- it wasnt so exciting.....

“Gorgeous food and charming atmosphere!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 27, 2013

Recommended by a local lady we had met at the spa, we headed down to Piccolo Padres for dinner from our hotel (Corinthia St George’s) by foot. A wonderful 15-20 minute-long walk along the bay later, we arrived at a charming restaurant sitting right on the waterfront.

After waiting just a couple of minutes to be seated in their cosy waiting area, we were led to our table in a lovely, covered, outer area, which looks like a converted dock (we could imagine this was a wonderful setting on a warm Summer night). We took a few moments to decide on our order as the offerings were vast and all sounded delicious! For starters, we ordered the calamari and the warm crusty bread with artichoke hearts and parmiggiano. I went for the Rigatoni pasta with Maltese sausage while my friends ordered the Risotto with pear, Gorgonzola chees and cream and smoked salmon salad.

Our starters arrived in good time. The crisp calamari with tartare sauce melted in our mouths. The parmaggiano melted atop the warm bread and artichoke hearts really wetted our appetites for our mains. The pasta was one of the best I’ve ever had – the full flavoured Maltese sausage combined with the tomato, cream and cheese sauce had to be a combo made in heaven. Portions at Piccolo Padre are substantial and very reasonably priced, especially for the glorious quality of the feast presented in a beautifully quaint, invitingly warm and happily bustling atmosphere. We stayed until 12:30am, finishing off our lovely Maltese wine and waited for the taxi that the reservationist very kindly called for us.

“Wonderful location good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

This pizzeria is located underneath the more expensive Barracuda restaurant. It is on the corner of Balluta Bay and if you book ahead you can reserve a table on the terrace overlooking the water which really is a splendid place to eat. It's pizza and pasta here and it's good quality. A lovely place to spend a spring or summer evening.

“one of the best quality price ratio for Malta”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 15, 2013

if you are looking for a family/friend place to go for casual diner this is the place.
good pizze, good pasti (BEST seafood pasta ever! just ask no salt added!!) a bit less fan of desserts except a very good shake.
Prices are completely worth it never more than 40/50E for 2 depending what kind of eater you are!
In winter time no booking required, in warm season book ahead as it is busy (not really couple romantic atmosphere there) if you want to have a particular seating like near the water!
