“poor customer relations”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

We arrived at approximately 11:30 and were told there was a problem with our room and we needed to see the manager. The manager turned up at approximately 13:00 and after he dealt with several other families in the same position we were told they had overbooked and there was no room for us for the first night. We were transferred to another (better) hotel and told that WE had to contact the Cavalieri the next morning to see if a room was available. The transfer then duly arrived 25 minutes late !
On checking in nobody was there to apologise for the overbooking, but to be fair a bottle of wine was left in our room while we were out.
The air conditioning was useless, the beds were very hard and the breakfast was just passable.
On the Saturday, our first night there, a weeding party went on until 01:00 right under our room.
The St.Julians bay/St.Georges bay area were great with plenty of bars, restaurants and shops

Fantastic location, end corner room overlooking the bay and sea was lovely. Staff friendly and helpful. Hotel is really nice, room was good for the price, bathrooms could do with updating but it didn't really impact on the overall stay.
We stayed bed and breakfast, lots of choice full English and continental, served 7-10am.
Free wireless internet available on the whole ground floor with lots of comfy seating areas. Internet only available in the room via a cable so no use for iPad, phones etc unless you brought a wireless router with you?
Towels, toiletries and hair dryer all provided.
Within 5 minutes walking distance there are many restaurants and cafés. For fussy eaters the usual fastfood chains are also close by McD, Pizza Hut 5 min, Burger King etc, Subway is 15 minute walk.

Room Tip: Ask for bay or sea view. Sea view room does not get the sun.

CAVALIERI is in the best area near Valletta and with a superb view on the creek (specially the even rooms). The rooms and the beds are very large and there are there is an inside pool, ideal for cold days. The food was very good and rich and the staff very friendly. BUT in the rooms (specially in the bathrooms) it needs a severe renovation. If so, CAVALIERI would be a very good choice.

Arrived with some trepidation having read the recent October reviews but thankfully we had a really good experience.
The room over looking the sea was lovely with excellent maid service, the room was clean the linen crisp and clean. The hotel is big and some of the fixtures and fittings are a little worn but unless you look hard its really not noticeable. Excellent value for money with a wide choice of breakfast. Better still there are lots of eating places within an easy walk in the evening and the bus stops are nearby. We would go again.

Room Tip: Go for the sea view rooms we had one on the 5th floor

Visited the Cavalieri for a conference and enjoyed the stay. Location is right on the water in desirable San Gilian neighborhood, with rooms overlooking pool and harbor. Not the cleanest hotel, but one of the friendliest - with staff very polite and friendly from check-in, meals, poolside, at the conference, and through check-out. I recommend it.

We have just come back from staying at the cavalieri hotel. We arrived late at night, our room was appalling, mould on the walls and ceiling, the bedding was stained and grubby, shower curtain rusty at the top, room smelt, totally unacceptable. staff member very rude, he did apologize later. We had to sleep there the frst night because he hotel was full.
We were very upset by the whole experience. The next day I complained to the manager, and I showed him the room.He was very understanding and found us a new room, gave us a bus tour and evening meal. Also our rep was very good and made sure we were happy. Unfortunately we lost a day holiday sorting out all the problems. I can say the hotel is in a lovely location, great view if you have a room at the front, agree noisy from the bar late at night. The food was lovely cant fault that, plenty of choice.IWe agree this hotel does need a bit of love, some of the staff are friendly and others need to smile abit. We can see why it has some bad reviews on tripadviser

Stayed here for one week on half board this October. Unique aspect of hotel is its best selling point while the torn and broken sunbeds and parasols were the pits. Food was very good at times but fairly uniimaginative. Room overlooking marina was shabby and in need of refurbishment. Staff mostly friendly though restaurant manageress was officious. Would consider return at the right price but hotel is desperately in need of more investment.

Room Tip: The best are at the front at the top
