“Exquisite taste”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2013

upon arriving the ambiance was great; the colour palette and decor provided an immediate calming and soothing vibe, topped it off with a great playlist selection. A definite intimate setting, with great customer - staff relationship. The food was impeccable, one of the best chicken kormas I've ever tasted. It's a restaurant that thrives when it comes to quality. Will definitely revisit in the near future.

“Looked promising but food was lacking”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 25, 2013

I visited this restaurant on a whim, one evening with my partner. It had recently opened up close to where we live and we decided to check it out. All in all it was unfortunately a rather disappointing experience.

It's a small intimate restaurant, with a seating capacity of 8-10 tables perhaps. The place is welcoming and cosy, the decor is warm and appropriate for the theme; Indian/Arabian. The menu is extensive, and having traveled in India and several countries in the Middle East, I was pleased to see some authentic and less commercial-sounding dishes on offer, than what you usually find in similar restaurants.

We didn't want any starters. For mains we chose to share the Arabian and Indian Mixed Tandoori platter, which costs 32 Euro and which the menu states is for 2 people to share, and consisted of a mix of chicken, lamb, and beef offerings, and sizzling veggies. To go with it we ordered a side salad, and some plain rice (priced separately). The rest of the review is based solely on this choice, as I cannot comment on any of the other dishes on offer. Even though the restaurant is so tiny with so few tables, and in spite of us being the 3rd table there that evening, the food mentioned above took more than an hour to be served. The platter was served on an Eastern looking food-warmer, which looked stylish, but was too large for the small table, and completely useless, as it only had 1 piece of charcoal in it, and the food got cold after 5 minutes. The food served was unimpressive to say the least. In all fairness the chicken was tender, tasty, and adequate for 2 people. However we had only 1 tiny beef skewer, 1 lamb shish skewer, which had 3 morsels of tough and almost unchewable meat, and 1 other piece of lamb out of which we managed to get a bite each as the rest was all bone. The only vegetables in sight were 2 slivers of onions and red peppers on the skewer. Not at all what you would expect from the description on the menu and for the price paid. Considering that the sides had to be paid for separately, the food alone came to just over 21 euro each, which is just not worth the quality of food offered at all.

I was between a 2 and a 3 star. I gave a 2 not to be mean, but because this restaurant is in a prime location surrounded by several other eateries of all styles and cuisines, and it shouldn't get away by serving anything less than what is clearly suggested on the menu. It was not a disaster but I left feeling disappointed and would not recommend it. Although with some attention it does have the potential to be rated much higher.

“Good night out not your average curry”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

I have been to this restaurant previously when it used to be a wine, the atmosphere is completely different, although small, you don't feel claustrophobic and the ambience is fantastic. The waiter was excellent, helping us with deciding what to order and the corresponding wine he suggested was very nice. The meals were the correct portions and it did not take forever to be served, the food we chose was the traditional India cuisine and I must say the meals were excellent. The only thing I would add is possibly a wider choice of desserts.

“Cosy and warm with great food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2013

Felt truly welcome from the second we entered the restaurant. Warm and attentive service. Skipped the starters as we weren't starving. Enjoyed the complimentary poppadums. They hadn't managed to get hold of lamb the day we went, so my partner opted for the beef madras with coconut based sauce. Slightly spicy and very tasty. I had the king prawn shakuti. Quite mild but flavourful. Had garlic naan and pilau rice as sides. My partner, who has celiac disease, had a delicious strawberry sorbetfor dessert. I loved my baklava and arabian coffee - the perfect combo! The lady of the house is warm and wonderful and adds to the gorgeous food. Be aware that it does take a while for the food to cook (guess they make everything from scratch in a tiny kitchen), so order starters if you're starving. No doubt our best meal in Malta!

“Excellent restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 13, 2013

We found the place by accident and visited twice while on holiday in Malta. The place is quite small and booking is probably advisable. I suspect we were lucky in both our visits, getting tables that had just been vacated.

Helpful friendly staff who are efficient and attentive. The food was excellent and provided a welcome break from the largely Italian fare on offer.

The menu is divided into Indian and Arabian dishes and we concentrated on the Arabian dishes (these being less frequently available). The portions were very generous. The food was very tasty, well spiced and thoroughly enjoyable.

Both times we had a semi sparkling rose wine which was also delicious.

Recommended.
