Those who are well acquainted with the Sliema/St. Julians area, understand that dining out on the weekend of the St. Julians feast is quite an ordeal since restaurants in the area are always at their busiest. When it comes to dining out the busiest day of the feast weekend generally falls on the saturday and therefore we did not think that it would be too difficult to find a place to eat without a reservation on sunday evening at 8.00pm. We were wrong however and the restaurant we had chosen was fully booked so we went for a stroll along the bay and came across Pane e Olio. The restaurant appeared rather empty only to discover that all but one of the tables was reserved. We were quickly seated and attended to, to the extent that before even having the chance to ask for some bread, we were served our first course. My husband and I chose to share two starter fish dishes both of which were of a good size, well presented and cooked to perfection. The same can easily be said for the main courses and the dessert. The staff were very professional and at no point in time throughout the evening were we made to feel rushed or worst still unattended. To top it all, the final bill turned out to be rather moderate. So a big well done Pane e Olio .. thank you for a lovely evening and a super dining experience!
