With a location, menu and price all screaming fine dining, this was a facade, for a dressed up menu, tasteless food and arrogant service.
Pastry filled with duck livers - Found a square inch plastic barcode (wrapper from something) in the middle of one of the pastries!
Aubergine starter - not seasoned, tasteless mush.
Pate starter - horrid texture, nothing wow.
Prawn cakes starter - literally tasted of nothing, seriously it was bizarre.
Octopus/Seabass carpaccio with urchin dressing starter - Again nothing done to add flavour, missing acidity. (although sounded disgusting to me anyway :)
Rissotto - rice completely under cooked
Other main courses were steaks, nothing to complain about here, easy to get right.
The majority of the above was left after a few mouthfuls, it was confusingly inedible.
Over an hour for starter, another 45 minutes for mains.
We were a table of 6 and there was another large table in, although no-one else.
Now the meal could have been rescued by an unconceited, humble attempt to correct the above, as this was the first time I have ever sent anything back, we weren't out to be difficult, it was our last night.
Didn't ask how meal was going at all, even after finding packaging in food!
As this would have given them some chance to correct some of the meals (cook risotto further).
When the carpaccio was returned, the waitress firstly asked if my friend had eaten it before, which came across as a challenge....
Which he had and unbeknown to her is a very experienced Chef (Claridges/Noma), we never shared this with the restaurant, he would never say 'I'm a chef so.....'
We left what tasted horrid and ate what was reasonable, therefore wanted to only pay for what we ate, ignoring the obvious sticking point of finding foreign objects in food.
Basically they then argued with us and stated that we didn't know how it was supposed to taste because we mere from Manchester......
That was it we were off, paid for what we ate and left.
Rescued the night with lots of wine, and a Double Cheeseburger on the way back to the hotel.
Please don't go, there is a better restaurant called Barracuda further round the bay.
Their flame grilled lobster tagliatelle is making my mouth water thinking back to it.
But if you don't want my honest advice and want to go I found a menu online for you.....Enjoy
