“Rough and Ready..Mostly Rough!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 week ago NEW

Positive things first, the location is excellent, just on the edge of the party area with clubs and restaurants in abundance. The staff that you do see are friendly. Because the hotel has had such consistently bad reviews not a huge amount of people book it, so that when we were there it was one of the quietest in the area. I can honestly say we didn't see a single cockroach alive or dead. It only cost us a fiver each per night to stay there. Negative things, there is no reception. It used to be on the second floor but this floor has been gutted and is open to the sky. To get the key you need to go to the Blue Sea St Georges Park hotel reception a little way up the road on the opposite side. The hotel next door to Burlington which was leaning against the Burlington has been demolished and for months now a new building is under construction, this heavy construction work starts at
7 am and finishes at 7 pm. I would estimate that even at this pace there is at least 6 months work left. Like any hotel much depends on which room you get, what the other guests behaviour is like at the time you were there, and how much you expect from your stay. In our room most things were not working including any cooking facilities the TV, and most of the wall sockets, however the ceiling fan worked and so did the fridge, and there was hot water clean towels and toilet rolls, other rooms might have different things working or not working but for a fiver and with cheap restaurants and alcohol nearby if you are not on your only holiday of the year and just want a place to sleep for a few hours in a rough and ready place the hotel would probably do fine.

Room Tip: Cross your fingers

We recently booked these apartments, what a big mistake !
1. No one to meet us to give us keys or tell us where to pick them up from.
2. Pitch black entrance which stunk of urine.
3. Lifts were broke.
4. Stairway, walls filthy, cement falling out of wall.
5. Apartment was filthy, kitchen area was dirty, door handles missing. Cupboards dirty inside.
6. Fridge was broke and filthy.
7. Bedroom had 3 beds crammed in , quilts with no covers on them. Quilts were full of cigarette burns , dirty and what looked like fleas or bugs on them.
8. Building site adjoining apartments
9. Noise horrific
10. Wouldn't allow my dog to stay in these apartments.
This experience would put you off visiting Malta. How they have the cheek charging to stay here I don't know. They should pay you ! We advise anyone considering these apartments don't waste your money.

I arrived last Sunday to find a bomb site,no reception, filthy lifts and stairs. The door frame to room 702 was hanging off the wall and the door was split around the door lock. The balcony windows didn't close, the 3 pin sockets had 2 pin appliances. The bed lights didn't work and had exposed wires. The 1st 2 floors of the building was a building site as was the plot next door. This was by far the worst accommodation I have been in and left disgusted on Monday mornin
g.It's a pity that minus ratings can't be awarded as this abomination would qualify hands down

When we arrived i took about an hour to locate key, the entrance to apts looked like it was being used as a urinal for passers by, the condition of lift was filthy. Cotton buds, hair clips were stuck in electric sockets and still not working, shower was a bath with a hose with nowhere to hold it, no shower curtain either when i enquired about shower the following morning i was told by reception that wasstandard around Malta Worst accommodation I have ever stayed in checked out straight away. The place should be closed for health and safety reasons,

Worst accommodation I have ever stayed in.

Firstly when we arrived it took us 30 minutes to figure out where to collect our keys (from a neighbouring hotel which has nothing to do with the apartments). Then we had to wait 2 hours until the keys were available.

The apartment was basic to say the least. PVC "sofas" ripped with cigarette burns. Kitchen area in very poor condition, stovetop was a hit and a miss if it worked.

Bedroom area was ok, but holes in wall and very run down.

TV not working (when I enquired just told was the same in every apartment).

Rubbish in the stairs overflowing, cockroaches in the room and around rubbish areas.

On the positive side, location was excellent and we were allowed a late checkout at no extra charge.

If it's all you can afford then maybe just think again.
