“Didn't want to leave!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 22, 2013

This hotel was amazing! We stayed there for 2 nights/3 days and I didnt want to leave. The hotel looked amazing- the staff were very nice and efficient. They took our luggage up to the room....all the staff there greeted you including cleaners, maids, anyone that passed you. The room...oh my god...i loved it to much...and the one thing i appreciated the most was funnily enough our TV. Nice flat screen tv which was attached to the wall. Fitted carpets, and the bed was amazingly comfortable! I didn't want to get out of bed in the morning. The bathroom was to die for. Had everything you could ever want...a nice modern glass shower....an amazing looking bath...a large mirror + sink. It even came with a built in radio which transmitted the sounds coming from the TV. hah! Loved every second of it. The breakfast was really good too...i really appreciated the up to date more modern look of the hotel. Definetly a hotel i would come again to. Was even convenient enough to be round the corner from st julians/Pv with sound proof rooms. Wonderful!

This is a very good five star hotel near the harbour and the lively Paceville. If you are searching for a holiday resort-type hotel, maybe it's not the best for you, but If you don't mind if a hotel is a bit business-like, than go for it. My room (815) was spacious, and very nice, modern décor with bright colours. It looked to an inner garden. The housekeeping was perfect, they came twice a day, in the morning (to clean the room, change towels etc.), and in the evening too (to make the bed, and leave chocolate on the pillows:)).

I only had two problems with my room: there was no socket next to my bed, (so I couldn't charge my phone during the night and use it as an alarm clock in the morning), and I also couldn't find any socket in the bathroom. (So I couldn't use my hair straightener in the bathroom.) The other problem was with the temperature of the water in the shower. One time it was ok, and one sec later it was boiling, and after it was cold, and then ok again. It is very dangerous. (And it was not just my room's problem. I was a part of a group, and the others told me they had the same problem.)

Otherwise, the breakfast was great (huge selection of local cheese, real irish/british breakfast, fruits, cereals etc., everything u need for starting the day), the indoor and outdoor pool area and the spa were also nice. The wifi was free and very good all around the property. They also have a private beach a few meters away. We didn't have enough time to try it, but it seemed ok, but a bit crowded (even in May).

All in all, despite that I had some problems with the room, this is one of the best hotels I've ever stayed.

Room Tip: It's better not to dream about a room with a sea view - most of them looks at inner patios. But...

The service is excellent. The staff are wonderful and always there to help. The rooms are clean and spacious with very comfortable beds. The hotel is situated in a great area and within walking distance of many restaurants. Staying at the Intercontinental makes a great holiday in Malta even better!

Room Tip: Terrace suites are worth paying a little extra

We spent four nights here in May 2013. The location is great if you want to be in the middle of everything - across the street is a multiplex cinema, bowling alley, shopping mall and multiple chain restaurants. A few steps away is the hubub of Paceville nightlife, and many more restaurants, (you won't starve here). There is a bus stop about five mins walk away that is good for getting to Valetta and many other places. I was slightly worried by the hotel's proximity to the noisy nightlife, but once you are in the hotel it's like it doesn't exist. We had a room on the 5th floor, facing the inner courtyard and it was perfect peace and tranquilty, birds cheeping, palm trees etc.
The room itself was clean, spacious, had tea and coffee making facilities, free wifi and a patio. The whole hotel was kept very nicely- every day there was some kind of cleaning going on. The only possible exception would be the inside swimming pool, where the paint is peeling on the ceiling and could do with a refurbishment. This is though, the only exception. The rooftop pool area is spacious and again peaceful from the streets below.
The concierge was very helpful, booking a boat trip for us and recommending some good Maltese restaurants etc; in fact every member of staff we came across was great. I would definitely recommend the hotel.

Room Tip: Avoid the rooms facing the front road as you would probably get a bit of party or street noise in th...

Congratulations to Ian and the team on creating a fantastic gourmet taster dinner, with locally produced food and wine - a wonderful finale to our week's holiday in Malta. The Intercontinental Hotel in St Georges Bay is a good quality hotel, originally situated in a quiet bay but now surrounded by bars and clubs, so the area can get very noisy late into the night, especially at the weekend. The rooms are double glazed, however, to block out most of the noise, and there are plenty of tranquil areas inside the hotel, including an indoor pool and a courtyard garden. The staff are all very courteous and friendly, and all areas of the hotel are bright, well decorated and clean. Transport links to places of interest across the island are plentiful and frequent - we bought a week's ticket for the local Arriva buses for only 12 euros.
