“A great place to stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 4, 2012

The hotel is positioned literally on the rocks, with rooms commanding a wonderful sea view across St. Georges bay to the resorts of Paceville and upmarket St. Julians - which are only 5 minutes walk away. The Marina benefits therefore from its quiet location - but is within easy reach on foot from the man-made beach of St. Georges Bay and the lively night life of Paceville. Water sport activities are available in the bay from Spring to Autumn, and the Marina residents share the excellent gym and spa facilities of it's sister hotel next door. The rooms are first class - and we have found all the staff (in particular Joseph) to be both courteous, friendly and helpful. Considering the quality of this hotel, it offers excellent value for money. We have enjoyed a January break at The Marina for the last three years - and hope to do so again in 2013.

Room Tip: Rooms on the floors from 5 upwards with sea views are recommended. If asked, reception will readily...

The Marina Hotel overlooks St. George's Bay on Malta island. All rooms have a view of the bay, with the sea sloshing against rocks below. A short walk away is the sandy beach at the end of the bay.

The hotel is located a short walk away from shops and the urban buildup of the main town, so
location wise it is quite strategic. Although unimposing on the outside, it's quite comfortable and well-maintained inside.

Rooms: My room was quite large and comfortable, its best feature being the balcony and the
view of the sea and the constant breeze. It came with an old-style analogue TV that worked
well, and the bathroom was adequate. Bed was notable for its comfort.

The dining area on the 3rd floor was airy and well appointed, and the food was of a very
good quality if of limited choice at breakfast and dinner. Staff were friendly and
accommodating.

Free internet access in the lobby area with two connected PCs.

I had the pleasure of staying at the Marina Hotel, but my only regret was it was only a single night as just passing through Malta. However I found the experience first class from the moment we all turned up. The front desk staff were extremely pleasant and helpful, the rooms were clean, well laid out and had a perfect view of the bay. The breakfast in the restaurant was varied and well laid out the only inconvenience was a very slow toaster which in the overall picture is a minor hiccup. The position of the hotel to the local nightlife was great and I am determined I will return with my family very shortly.

Hotel is located on the first line. There is no road between “beach” and the hotel. In Malta there is few hotels which are so close to sea and without road between hotel and sea.
Beach is rocky like most beaches on Malta. It is not private but you feel like it is private. There are few people on it and the hotel fence is so close to sea.
Breakfasts are great while I didn’t like the food in the bar during the day. However it was hot and I didn’t want to eat a lot in the midday. Hotel is very close to Pacheville so it is easy to walk to it but it is far enough to sleep without hearing noise.
I would definitely recommend the room with sea view. It is amazing in that hotel. But be careful if you want to have a room on the high floor. There is a few room on the last floor (it is very small floor but rooms are the same size) and there is no elevator to this floor. It is not accessible for wheelchair. On the other hand the view is really great.
WiFi is fast but not free. You can buy a voucher and use it as much times as you want. I mean you can connect, browse for 10 min and then disconnect. The remaining time you may use later.

Room Tip: Higher floors have better view to sea (if you order sea view room).

My husband and I needed a short break for our mini-honeymoon at the end of June. We stayed at the Marina Hotel for 3 nights and enjoyed every minute of it.
Before we arrived, I emailed the hotel to inquire what types of sea view rooms they had. I emailed back and forth with Robert to discuss various options. The communication was fantastic. I was also worried as we were arriving before the regular check in time and was assured that they could hold our luggage.
Well, upon arrival, I was even more assured that we would be more than pleased with the room we were allocated. And let me tell you, we were! We were upgraded to a suite room, a spectacularly big room with 2 balconies, one for morning sun and one for afternoon, with a sitting room and a huge bathroom. We were more than impressed and grateful when we arrived. Our room was decorated with red rose petals and looked beautiful!
The front desk, including Stephen, were more than helpful giving us directions to Mdina (old walled city) and Valletta as well. Well, while we were out exploring Mdina, they were preparing the champagne in our room for our arrival. Again, we were impressed! The time and care that they took was hugely appreciated by us and we were made to feel more than special.
The hotel is extremely central, close to restaurants and shopping as well as bus transport routes. The hotel also runs a shuttle to Valletta, but make sure to get in line early, so we were warned. We took a bus back to the hotel area.
As well, as an added bonus, the hotel also shares the pool area with the Corinthia St. George's which is a beautiful 5*, literally situated a 2 min walk through the hotel.
The breakfast was more than we could have asked for, just be sure to go all in when sitting outside for breakfast. It got pretty hot!
As a side, Paceville is one of the most ridiculous places on Earth! One needs to experience it just for a laugh! We found it extremely tacky, but found a few other nicer areas with classier bars.
I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a fantastic hotel in the St. Julian's/St. George's Bay Area.

Room Tip: Upgrade to a sea view or suite if you can! The views are stunning especially with the glistening wat...

Arrived here on Stephens Day/Boxing Day, from the min we arrived in the hotel the staff were brilliant. Very helpful & very well mannered. A nice gentleman offered to bring our bags to our room but we could manage ourselves. the room was spotless, from the bathroom to the bedroom to the balcony. The cleaners were in everyday & if you were there when they called in they would call back when you eventually went out.the view from our balcony was beautiful so relaxing to sit out on the balcony when you have a view like that. Bed was so comfy usually when im away i do be looking 4ward to gettin back to my own bed, in this case no. we had booked b&b the breakfast was one of the best ive had in any hotel, eat as much as you wants aswell. the hotel is also away from all the madness of paceville so you cant hear anything which is good if you want a quite nite in, but if you wanted to go out its only 5mins walk if even. would recommend this hotel to everyone, i have been to quite a few hotels & this has to be the best ive been to, will be returning at somestage not sure when though.
