Despite the dodgy, modern, name (it was originally the Balluta Bay Cafe when it opened 50+ years ago) we dined here twice and thoroughly enjoyed both meals.
As they cook everything fresh and only as available, I missed the snail starter as there was none left so we ordered a Maltese meze-style starter to share. My wife had a seafood platter & I ordered the rabbit, both were accompanied by salad & chips. Including a bottle of wint. this came to around £40.
Next night we went a little earlier & I successfully ordered the snails but wasn't prepared for what I got. Instead of the paltry, overpriced, 1/2 doz covered in tomato or garlic sauce we get here in the UK, a bowl containing an estimated 70-80 snails arrived covered in garlic...& all for a meagre couple of Euro. They were fantastic!
My wife had Silver Bream (available on of off the bone - your choice) and I had octopus stewed in red wine, with extra bread to soak up the gorgeous sauce! This and a bottle of wine was around £35.
Our opinion - well cooked, Maltese cuisine at reasonable prices and a decent wine list with acceptable prices.
