“Brilliant weekend break”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

We stayed for the weekend as a short break. We found that the Front office staff are very welcoming as are the waiting staff in the breakfast room.
Julian Azzopardi, Charlot and Jason have done a brilliant job. The hotel lobby is one of the best on the island.

Room Tip: Staying in one of the bay suites was an experience for us who have travelled and worked in the indus...

The Westin Dragonara is what you would expect from a classic resort hotel. The staff were very friendly, the breakfast buffet superb, the rooms clean and all mod cons as expected. The negatives - the hotel is a little run down in some areas and they charge you for the internet if you do not have it included in a package. At 19 euros for 24hrs it was quite frankly daylight robbery. For the price we were paying it should have been included and there really is no excuse to charge that amount.....

We split our malta trip in november between Intercontinental and Westin. Being a resort hotel obviously it is a not in city center like the intercontinental however the walk to center is not more than 7-10 mins. The lobby and rooms do have a certain elegance you would associate with a pricey resort hotel but the bathroom while not small has just the bath tub and not seperate shower cubicle.Rooms are very spacious with balconies. We had a sea facing room so got really great views from the balcony. The breakfast is pricey but I found it very varied and really tasty. Being november the beach was closed but it did not seem to be a sandy beach !! (more like cemented area with chairs/beach lounges) We did drop into the casino and its small but not bad. (2€ for roulette and 5€ fro blackjack) We had a second birthday while in westin (the first was at intercontinental and they gave us pastries and bubbly) and they gave us a very nice cake the next day with their compliments which was really appreciated. Although I cant fault with the hotel or service I do not think I will personally return to it and might try some other beach resort because I am not a big fan of hotels which charge 16 bucks for internet (apparently you do get 1 hr free internet in lobby) on top of such pricey rooms n breakfast!! (also if going to resorts I am interested in sandy beaches but to be fair as it was raining I did not go and explore the grounds a lot..and the view from sea facing rooms is breathtaking)

We stayed at the Westin Dragonara for two weeks. We stayed in one of the 'Tower Rooms' which had a wonderful veranda overlooking the hotel pool and beyond the seafront. The room was beautiful and very comfortable.

The staff were very professional, friendly and courteous. The hotel is beautifully kept and looked after to which the staff seem to take great pride in. We drank in the bar and were lucky enough some evenings to be entertained by a wonderful Pianist playing the Grand Piano.

We ate, on more than a few occasions, in the Quadro Restaurant ( which was my Husband's favourite place to eat! ) Martin Cauchi - the Restaurant Manager, was wonderful - he made us very welcome and the food there was excellent. We chatted to the waiter there too ( not sure of his name, but he was lovely! ) and the restaurant was just across the road from the hotel within the complex. We recommend The Quadro to anyone visiting the Dragonara.

Breakfast was always wonderful with a huge variety of choice.

St Julian's is a beautiful area on the Island of Malta - the people are warm and friendly and staying at the Dragonara Resort made the whole experience one to be remembered and treasured. Thank You to all the staff there who made our stay a very memorable one.

Room Tip: The Tower rooms include not just a balcony but a very large veranda. However in December the sun pa...

Had a Sunday lunch buffet and it was excellent. Large selection and variety when it comes to food especially in the main course and the dessert section. Food was varied starting from cold cuts up to the tastiest gateaux. Very friendly stuff and efficient service and will definitely visit again.

When comparing this hotels to other five star hotels in the world, the Westin Dragonara rates as average. On the other hand, we also believe it may be one of Malta's best. Most employees were very friendly and efficient, but how can you explain the low quality of many items on the breakfast buffet? Is it because one must assume that the guests are mostly from England and do not mind this kind of food? Maybe a certain amount of management caring to details would help: Try to get first grade fruits and vegetables for the buffet, discuss why there are so many leftovers of certain dishes, get some fresh air into hallways without windows, remove the cause of bad smell in rooms before using air freshener, check TV reception quality of all channels, etc. The hotel is certainly very good but there is room for improvement.

Room Tip: Sea view rooms in the South Wing have sun all day (good in the low seasons) but may be noisy as the...

We've spent 6 days holidays at this hotel last june 2012.

The room with sea view was big enought, quiet, clean, and we've chosen the club lounge :
from 18h to 20 h we could have a drink on nice terrace with good canapés and little things to eat.

The outdoor pool was warm and huge enought, the two outdoors jacuzzis are great two.

On the resort site there's a little beach with concret, many sunbeds and umbrellas...

Thanks to Diego (de la VEGA) for his help to make a reservation for a little boat to one daytrip to Comino and blue lagoon and so...

A nice place in the heart of the village, lots of restaurants everywhere but very quiet to have a rest.

For 5 or 6 days it's perfect, and not too far from France.

Laure from France

Room Tip: room with sea with and club lounge.
