“Perfect - great value!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 7, 2014 via mobile

Having just returned from a long weekend stay at the Argento in Malta for my brothers wedding, I thought I should let others into the possible secret of this hidden gem of a hotel.
We arrived late on the Thursday evening, having booked this months ago, and were greeted in reception with a warm friendly welcome. The receptionist was very helpful, whilst also having a great sense of humour, although always remaining professional.
Although this is only a relatively small boutique hotel, it offered everything that you required; cleanliness, comfort, good food with good choices, lovely helpful staff, quiet swimming pool (at one point it was so quiet up on the rooftop pool, there was only myself and my partner, and it felt like our own villa with waiter service - sublime!!), gym, plenty of sunbeds in both shaded and in the sun, good sized room with a safe, mini-bar, TV, comfortable bed, plenty of storage and air conditioning - all included in the price!
Friendly, helpful, smiling staff always around to make you feel welcome goes a long way when I am critiquing service delivery - all here in abundance (especially Marton - he was so eager to help without being in your face - really nice friendly guy).
For the money that we paid for this hotel, we certainly got value for our money and if we went back to Malta again, would definitely come back here to stay - highly recommend!

We stayed at Hotel Argento for 1 week. We requested a quiet room with a view, and got a great room on the 5th floor with a view over Spinola Bay. The hotel is well located with the main restaurants within 2 mins walk. The bus for the island is located very close too. Our room was spacious but didn't have a balcony for us to enjoy the view, just sliding doors. The room was cleaned daily for us. There was good air conditioning with a 'quiet' setting for night time. Breakfast was great with a good selection of cereals, breads, salads, fruit, juice, coffee and freshly made pancakes and omelettes. The restaurant was never too busy for breakfast. The pool was small but there were lots of areas for people to relax in the shade or in the sun. There was a small gym which overlooked the Bay area.

Overall we enjoyed our stay at the hotel. The staff were very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Would recommend this hotel to friends.

Room Tip: If you are willing to sacrifice a balcony, request a room overlooking the bay.

Stayed for a week to celebrate my husbands 60th. Staff left a card and wine which was a nice touch. We had deluxe rooms and were lovely. Not the best of outlooks but we were hardly in anyway. Very clean hotel, inside and out, pool area on roof was superb and spotless. Breakfast had a great choice and freshly made eggs and crepes to order. Staff were helpful and very friendly. Great location, near to bus stop for trips to Valetta etc.Hope to return next year.

Room Tip: Higher floor has a better view. Deluxe rooms are far bigger.

We stayed at hotel Argento for total of six nights. The hotel was chosen based on the central location and being fairly priced compared to other hotels in the area. Below you will find some major points in regards our stay at this property:

Location: Hotel Argento is very well positioned, just off the main street leading to the marina and all the bars and restaurants. One-two minutes away from the bus station taking you pretty much everywhere around Malta. There is also a small off license shop in an immediate proximity to the hotel, which is open until late. Overall superb location, close to everything you might need. St George's Bay is the only sandy beach in St Julian's area is about ten minutes walking from the hotel.
Hotel: Nothing impressive, looks like a residential building from outside. Minimalistic, kind of contemporary design, obviously build on a tight budget. Rather three than four star property. It has small swimming pool on the top, where more than four people in it at the time is already too much. Next to the pool there is a mini gym. The pool area benefits from shower facilities and vending machine. There is always a waiter to take your order for drinks. Internet works whenever it wants, the only decent connection is on the swimming pool area and down in the lobby.
Rooms: Very plain and shabby looking. We had a deluxe double room with a small balcony. Bed was king sized but zipped from two single beds, the mattress seemed to be of a good quality so compensated for the zipped fixture and managed to get us a nice sleep. Don't expect any lovely view from your rooms. There is a small fridge, which apparently can be filled in with min bar items on request. You will find safe and pre historical hair dryer in the room but don't hope for extras like iron & iron board, bathrobe and slippers. The bathroom has a horrible design, the worst I have ever seen. Out room had a very uncomfortable bathtub with half window to protect the water from going on the floor. This is inevitable as the leak started from at least three places, no drain for the water to go down so we had to be stressed every time needing to take a shower. Taking a shower automatically means drying a floor for at least ten minutes after that. No matter what position you adapt while taking a shower you will end up with lake Victoria in your bathroom. Very poor quality soap, they provide you with a shower/bath gel in one so make sure you carry your own shampoo and conditioner.
Service: Housekeeping was efficient, we found our room always nicely cleaned and tidy up after coming back in the afternoon.
The entire F&B team is a real gem for this hotel. They will make everything possible your stay is memorable. The same three or four people work on a very long shift ( maybe 12 or 14hrs), everyday (during our six nights stay) breakfast, pool servers, bar, dinner. We were surprised to always see them, no matter what time of the day. The guys are always smiling, ready to assist and once serving you will remember and greet you every time. One of the morning chefs made our stay so much fun, unfortunately we did not catch his name. He is full of jokes and provides unforgettable personalized service in his own way. He could not do enough to help you and make you start your day with as mile. We miss you DJ.
Front Office on negative is useless, sorry to say that. No help with luggage at any point, never use your name, even misspelled my name on the key card pouch, very unprofessional. No personal interaction, even basics like how was your day/stay and so on. Our sink was blocked from the moment we checked in and even though reported to Reception this never got fixed until the end. They have some weird procedure of putting down your credit card number manually on a piece of paper, this is against any data protection rules, very dodgy. Saying it is our first time in Malta, no map or area orientation given. You will be roomed, which is a nice gesture but having done that without establishing any connection to your guests is simply pointless. On one of the nights there were group of drunken teenagers screaming and shouting just outside of the hotel for more than an hour, early in the morning. Probably these people kept half of the hotel awake, night manager never reacted on that, probably he was fine with it.

Overall: Great base for exploring Malta and St. Julian's area. Drastic contrast between Restaurant and Reception service. Ok place if you are on a budget and manage to find some decent deal. Don't expect any signs of luxury. We basically used hotel Argento only to sleep in the evening as most of the time were always out.The bathroom(lake Victoria) is a real discomfort and needs immediate attention.

Thanks to the entire F&B staff for making our stay at Argento lovely.

Stayed in Argento as there was a family wedding in nearby hotel. Staff were fantastic from the moment we arrived and looked after us throughout the stay. There is a very friendly atmosphere about the place, the staff greet you when passing in the corridor and there was always a ready smile at reception. Makes such a difference to the experience on holiday.
Found the hotel to be clean, quiet at night and the rooftop pool is perfect for lounging. The breakfast is top notch and will set you up for the day - something for all diets/ lack thereof!!
The area is perfect for exploring Malta as just down a side street from the bus stop. Buses in Malta are ace with day long travel for e1.50 - stay on till the end and you are in Valletta - Definitely worth checking out.

My husband and I stayed at Argento for a week at the end of June. We arrived 3 hours before the 3pm check-in and were told that our room was ready and we could go up. This was typical of how the Argento staff go one step further to make their guests feel so welcome.

During our stay we celebrated our 1st Wedding Anniversary and not only did the reception staff recommend and book a table for us at a lovely local restaurant but they got us a card and some chocolates for our room, a really nice touch.

Location is graat, easy walking distance to the lively part (Paceville), the relaxed, pretty harbour with loads of nice restaurants as well as the marina which has a good selection of places to eat and you can admire the Sunseekers and other boats.

The hotel itself is well kept, clean and as said the staff are great. Rooms are a good size and the excellent breakfast buffet has a wide variety of choices complete with a very entertaining omlette/pancake chef!

Finally, the pool area is so nice. Great views from the terrace and it doesn't seem to get too crowded. The pictures of the pool make it look quite small but its perfect size, around 12-15metres in length.

We would definitely stay at Argento again and will be recommending the hotel to friends and family holidaying in Malta. Thanks again!

We booked a week at the Argento hotel, the end of June 2014. We were very pleased with this hotel. The people were very nice, and helpfull in ANY way. Especially to our 4 year old daughter. Everything was clean, and looking well taken cared off. Overall, we are VERY satisfied about this hotel. I can't think of anything that could/should have been better.
