Went with my family; wife and two kids. Place is very old. Walkway and room very dusty. The aircon inside our room was stale. We got flu because of this. The hotel seems to need a major overhaul, else I would definitely stay away from here.

Breakfast was ok. Spread was also not so much. Food was not great and not bad either.

Only commendation is their staffs. Very friendly and attentive. And that's that.

Avoid going to Batam on a long weekend holiday, as the immigration officers took 2 hours to clear us. It was mayhem at the checkpoint.....simply too many visitors!!

Enough said about the checkpoint and lets get to the hotel. Upon arrival we were greeted and told to wait for the check in process. In my booking with Agoda, 3 rooms with halfboard and 1 room with only breakfast were booked and as well as a remark stating that we wanted the newly renovated rooms. We got none of those except daily breakfast for all. I called Agoda and they offered free lunch for 6 pax for the 2 nights. Thank you Agoda.

Rooms were old and at SGD 78 per night, it was not really worth it. Some staff were exceptionally courteous and provided good service but there were also bad ones. There were no towels in my room and thank god I realised it upon entering the bathroom.

Perhaps the only reason why we booked this hotel was the close proximity to the eateries and the watering holes! Sederhana serves the best nasi padang in Batam and its better to dine in the 2nd floor. There's Macdonald and KFC opposite Goodway Hotel and they are open 24 hours during weekends. Plenty of watering holes like D'Angel, Chilli's playing songs of any genre! We loved the parties!

If Ive got no other options, I would stay at Goodway. Perhaps, being a regular at Harmoni has spoilt me a bit.

This hotel was, for me, a real find on Batam which is my weekend escape from Singapore. There is something stately and gracious about Goodway, especially the very spacious rooms. The venue is old, but has been well cared for over the years and remains in sound order. Rooms are clean, staff are friendly and polite, breakfast was aimed at western preferences, and the ambiance of the venue is comforting.

Goodway is not a modern Hilton, but it does have a homely atmosphere, which on Batam is not easy to find.

To have a fast and hustle free check in is every travelers expectation.
During check in process, was really smooth. Reception staff was very friendly.
The room is out of date (What can we expect?) but this is not it... as I am not really typical of complain guests. Until that moment... Breakfast time.
The sausages, fresh fruit platter, toast, everything is OK, until I took cereal and milk.
I have sip it and taste sour. Shocking! The milk is Sour?? Well I hope they better don`t mixed between Milk and Yoghurt!
I mean an expired milk on your breakfast? What else can makes your day?
I have informed to the waiting staff around me at that moment. He took the milk from my table without saying anything.
And I was just so willing to leave the table and HOTEL! as soon as possible.

Amazing breakfast experience from Goodway!

Room Tip: Skip your breakfast, otherwise ask the staff to taste the milk first.

Nothing fantasic about this hotel, except of friendly staff. Air con was not cold had to get them to check, booked a deluxe room with them, room was consider big, toilet is fine, but balcony is very dirty, not inviting at all... Pool looks old & dirty not a bit of relaxing at all.

Breakfast was fine, but upon arriving at the cafe we were not being led to the table instead we have walk around the cafe ourselves to try looking for a empty table, the cafe was overcrowded with other hotel guest and yet no one in the cafe even bother to help us out to look for a table, I felt like I was in a coffee shop or hawker centre looking for tables... Until finally I gave up & I approach the host at the cafe entrance telling her that we can't find a table then staffs around then starts to help us out finding a table...I find that this is not acceptable.

Overall if it is just for a night stay is fine but with the price given, I find that even for a night in a deluxe room it is not worth the price.

PS: very friendly & nice bell captain who led us to our room, switches on everything for us

The pricing, the service, quality of food (both room service and breakfast) is all fair to good.

The restaurant was packed full at breakfast time on a weekday, so it's probably better to go before or after the rush. I actually had difficultly finding a table and had that amusing experience of losing my table to someone when going back to the buffet for a second round.

Rooms are exactly as you would expect, fixtures and fittings have seen better days but all functional. Apart from the shower head which wasn't up to spec, mostly dripping the water.

Comfortable, traditional atmosphere all over the hotel, lobby, corridors, rooms.

My main problem was an unexpected wake up call at exactly 6 AM in the morning when the gardeners working in the pool area started their job, which involved a very noisy piece of machinery that must have woken every sleeping soul in the building.

It was really too early for such a disturbance... 9 AM would have been acceptable. This was a disappointing lack of foresight on the part of the hotel management and wrecked an otherwise positive stay.

Breakfast was good - they have an omelette station which makes very yummy and appetizing omelette because the chef added chili padi into the egg mix.

The door man was very polite and helpful. Reception staff were very efficient and knowledgeable. Checking in and out of the hotel was done swiftly and the recommendations given from the reception staff on places to eat and where to see sunrise or sunset were very reliable

The bedroom was nice, tv channels very entertaining and the air-conditioning in the room was very comfortable. However, I was a little disappointed that I had to request for bath towels and bedroom slippers. The toothpaste that was provided also seemed like it was used because the seal on the toothpaste and the packet that contained toothbrush and toothpaste were broken.

The water was brown in colour when I turned it on and so, do leave the water running for a while before you use.

I ordered salmon sashimi and teppanyaki from the Japanese restaurant located in the hotel and was disappointed. The salmon sashimi was off-colour and the teppanyaki was very salty.

The hotel is very near Nagoya shopping mall (approximate 7 min walk away) and 5-7 minutes drive from Harbour bay ferry terminal. Do not take limousine or taxi from the hotel because they charge A LOT higher than the ones that you flag off the street. However, you need to be aware that the ones you flag down from the streets also tend to mark-up their taxi prices too.

Additional info - It costs 60 000 ruppiah by taxi to get from Batam center to the hotel and the duration of the journey was 13 minutes (as estimated from google map), but it costs 85 000 ruppiah to get from the hotel back to Batam center.
