“As Authentic As It Gets!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 13, 2014

Let me first state that this is a "Fine Dining" restaurant.

It is definitely not a typical Japanese franchise chain which serves mass produced Japanese lookalike food!

What you get here is very similar to those of the real fine dining Japanese Restaurants like the old Unkai in Singapore or those in Japan.

The salmon sashimi is perfect, the miso is flavourful (not those you get from instant sachets) The sake collection is also amazing!!

A simple way to gauge how real and authentic the food here is, is to look at the number of very please and satisfied Japanese (probably expats and/or tourist). I guess they are the best judge for the food themselves.

Service is top notch, with really team of service staff. Atmosphere...hmmm.... makes me wonder if i'm really in Japan.....

On a whole, I just can't praise this place enough, and will definitely make it a point to return to Batam even just to visit this restaurant!!

Please note again that this is a FINE DINING Restaurant, so don't be surprised that they charge in Singapore Dollar and you can't possibly pay in Rupiah to justify the quality of the food. Even then the food are really way cheaper than many chain franchise Japanese outlets. To be fair, Kazu should not even be made into comparison with likes of IchiBan-Boshi, Sakae or Sushi Tei.... They are not even close.

I believe many who have been here would agree that this place definitely deserves Michelin Star ratings!!

“Wonderful salmon sashimi!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 1, 2013

As part of my batam trip, my good friend working there brought me to Kazu as it was my birthday. I was wowed by the private rooms and the whole place was 'different' from the other restaurants that we have been in batam. To die for is the thickly sliced juicy fresh salmon sashimi which was even better than the ones we had in Singapore, which was a surprise. Price although comparable,
quality and amount is definitely much better. We also had sukiyaki which filled the whole room with delicious aroma and tasted great too. Sushi, tempura etc, all food ordered tasted good...price in my opinion is very reasonable for the amount and ambience. Worth it! We will be back!!!

“Flawless Service and Lingering Taste”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 21, 2013

THIS is one of the BEST Japanese restaurants in Batam!!
I have been to many Japanese restaurants both inside and outside Indonesia, and this surely is a well managed restaurant that offers exclusivity, privacy, luxury with flawless service and top notch food selections on the menu.

Had dinner here for over 20 times and we couldn't get enough! Yeah, for local standards, the food is upscale expensive, but if we put that thoughts aside whilst enjoying every bite of your different variety of sushi (my favorite is anything that comes with salmon!!) and slurping the hot miso siru, the experience is definitely worth the try.

They got the private rooms good for business purposes and for couples to reconnect and talk about their days.
The serving ladies wear decent kimono as their clothes and with their smiles welcoming the guests that arrive and escort them to the reserved seating table.

The cold sake tastes great! To compare it with the hot sake, I like the cold one better after some sushi and sashimi dish.
Oh, they also always serve complimentary appetizer and dessert.
So it would be like a complete dinner besides the main course.

Added value given:
If you are a return customer and don't drive a car because you want to get "sake - drunk", they also have special service to drive you home safely with no charge (but I notice they don't give this service to everyone, only for a frequent return customer -- I know cause when my friend went here and needed the same service, she didn't get it - haha...)

For special occasion:
Especially for Valentine's day, you'd need to pre-book and reserve your place and pay $50 deposit as the restaurant will be on high demand during that period.
With $50, you'll automatically get small bucket of fresh red roses and imported red or white wine or sake for your selection. This $50 is on top of the food that you'll then order for V-day candle light dinner's bill.

“Expensive & charges Singapore Dollars”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Was looking around for a Japanese restaurant in Batam, managed to find this Kazu restaurant hidden behind KIA MOTORS.
Went there with my husband, daughter & maid for dinner, the ambience is the most suitable for business men on golf trips or people who wants to eat expensive japanese food.
Their food was less than tasty and a far cry compared to Singapore's japanese restaurants, those in Singapore such as Ichi-ban tastes even better. Their menu has very little selection and mainly alcohol, only one bento set. Really cannot make it. It cost us 1.3 Juta almost SGD$120++ for a dinner not well spent.
