“Pirate night”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2013

We had booked a number of places on a pirate themed evening. We all dressed up and were told to take our own drink (Which helped keep the night affordable) they provided areas of the museum for different parties and had a buffet of carrabean food, a steel band, limbo dancing and if anyone was willing, a trip to the top of the light house. They also gave prizes for the best outfit, for a treasure map competition, and entertained us with pirate tales as we ate. It was the best night out i can remember and i wish they would make it a regular event.

“Lovely views”

This is an interesting place to visit and the views are lovely but it is quite small, good for a short outing.

“Fascinating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2013

Lighthouse is good for local history, and understanding lighthouses, dangers to shipping etc. Great views. Bracing walk on the Leas.

“Really interesting place!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 19, 2012

I've always loved this place. You'd think there's not much there, but you seem to go from room to room, learning about the origins of this lighthouse and the older bulbs/systems used to run it. It's fascinating. If you hate spiral steps, you won't want to visit the top of the light house, it's quite a nerve wracking step at the top, if you're carrying a toddler or helping a child! However, it's really worth it! At Christmas time, the lighthouse often hosts Santa so it's worth ringing to book if you want to see him. There's a lovely cafe too and the world's smallest National Trust shop.

“brilliant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 11, 2012

lots of things for the kids to play with, dress up, flags and then the opportunity to see where the lighthouse keeper lived and the toys in the childs bedroom were fantastic. Lots to keep kids entertained, huge outdoor area and a few climbing frames to tire them out in the fresh sea air. Loads of picnic tables for you to sit on and admire the view out to see.
