“Relax with friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 25, 2012

I have never written a review before although I have travelled extensively, but I must describe a business where the staff go that extra mile to ensure that your stay is a pleasant and relaxing experience. On my visits to Sunderland I have found that the Chaise ticks all the boxes and more--the rooms are spotlessly clean --the sea views are iconic --and the breakfast is to die for.Enough has been written about John, the owner in previous reviews but Pauline is the star in the breakfast room--with more toast appearing before you ask --and small things like sweeteners being offered as she remembered from our last trip---just brilliant customer service.
Should this be your first trip the staff can reccomend restaurants-although they provide an evening meal---and discuss local attractions with you.
I would certainly advise anyone looking for a hotel in Sunderland to contact The Chaise

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view room---its fantastic watching the sun going down and if you are up early enough w...

Came up to sunderland to visit some friends for a few days with my family. Everything was perfect.....the room, the view, the cleanliness, the breakfast, the freindliness. I could go on but in a nutshell amazing. John, the owner I am sure you have read about him in other reviews, was such a polite, funny guy and there was nothing that was too much for him......I will definately be booking again for next year without a doubt.......well done John....best wishes the ABC / Lambrini girls...ha.ha.

Room Tip: Depending on the reason for your stay......most certainly a sea view !

After finishing the C2C we stayed 1 night at the inn. John was absolutely delightful and very accomedating. Our room was up front on the first level. It was quit spacious and we had a nice, functional bathroom. John gave us recommendations for dinner which was great. While we were on the main road we did sleep well. The only draw back was that our room was very well lit from the outside lights. I would not have been able to sleep without an eye mask. But other than that we had a good , relaxing day there.

Like other people we listened to the reviews on trip advisor and weren't disappointed.
Amazing location (we had a 15 min walk to stadium of light for a gig), amazing sea view and huge sized room (think we were lucky enough to get a family room for two).
John is very friendly and helpful, and can see why everyone mentions him in their reviews.
Breakfast was great with lots to choose from.
We would definately recommend others to stay here.
Also if John recommends the Marina Vista for an evening meal, we agree. Great food and atmosphere and only a 5 min walk from the hotel and located in the marina.
Our only slight issue was no wifi at the front of the hotel, but realistically what is a few days with wifi! Lol
Thanks again to John and the family.

I cancelled a booking at a hotel close to the Chaise based on tripadviser reviews and booked the Chaise, again based on tripadvisor reviews. I'm so glad I did. John is incredibly friendly and helpful, the en-suite room was very clean, fresh and spacious. Breakfast was excellent. I stayed at a Holiday Inn in Manchester the night after I was here and was charged over £12 on top of the (higher) room rate for a much poorer meal. All in all, it was a great experience and I'd have no qualms about recommending the Chaise as a 1st class , great value for money place to stay.

Room Tip: Room 1 faces the sea
