“Extremly overpriced, but very good breakfast”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed May 8, 2012

I visited Rica Park for a wedding. We had to book a "Superior" room because nothing else was available. The room was very expensive, but should be downgraded to a low cost room. The room was big with a nice view, but the room was very old and worn down. We ordered a Double room, but we got a twin bed room and we soon found out that the beds not were fasten to each other when my girlfriend hit the floor between the beds during night. The TV was situated in an angle so you could not watch the TV while laying in bed. Receptionist was very unexperienced with low grade of service mindness.

Staying here for the 6th time here for work. The room I have (305) not that great cause its facing east (for the past 5 times I have faced west). The curtains do not adequately block the sunlight. So I am awaken buy the brightness of the skies before 6am. Hope they do something about it though. THere is a construction (expansion of the hotel) going on now so the place doesnt look as pleasant as it used to look last time.

Everything else remains the same.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing west

I liked: the breakfast buffet, the gym and the room in the "modern" part of the hotel.

I disliked: the small and outdated room in the "west wing", the noise at night (not ideal for a work trip) the lack of service minded staff, and the food at the hotel. We tried twice (was a 2 week trip) but quickly realized the food was much better (and more reasonably priced!) other places.

If coming back I'd probably book a different hotel.

Renovation work being carried out outside by the hotel. Workmen are inconsiderate to say the least: filling trucks and skips and making as much noise as they can at 7/8 in the morning.
Spoilt an otherwise pleasant hotel.

I recently spent a weekend break in the Rica Park on a B&B basis. I requested a fjord view room which was provided. The room was adequate with a seating area and tea an coffee tray provided. The breakfast selection was varied and good quality ranging from fruit , cheese and ham to cooked breakfast foods. The hotel also has a leisure centre although a rather disjointed changing room and shower area before entering the pool. In relation to the high cost of living in Norway the room rate was good value.

Room Tip: Request a fjord view room

I got a non smoking room as I ordered. But it smelled like it has been millions of smokers in the room. Probably my clothes will also stink! Very pricy... even to be in Norway, one beer in the bar 134 NOK!!!!

This is my 4th time here on business, and I have never asked to stay in any other hotel. Place is comfortable, and has an old world feel about it. One of the oldest hotels in town, but also one of the best. After awhile the breakfast can be boring, but the hotel are proud to be serving the same food for decades!

Nice town with friendly people, its a nice place to come when you want to relax and get out of the city.
