Northern Italy is packed in the summer, as the locals escape the heat of the large cities. A family friend, and former hotelier himself, found this excellent hotel for us. The building dates to 1775, but the interior is ultra-modern, spacious, and very comfortable. The rooms seemed a bit larger than the European standard, and the bathroom especially so. The breakfast was adequate but not extensive, and getting a large cup of "cafe Americano" proved almost impossible. Free parking was available about a quarter mile away.
There is an extensive spa/steamroom/sauna on the top floor. It looked nice, but we didn't have the time to enjoy it.
Borgo Valsugana was a pleasant town with a large market on the day we visited. The Italian lakes were about 30 minutes away, and Trento about 45 minutes. The drop-dead Dolomites were all around us.
If you're headed in this direction, this was a fine hotel.
