“Need a total renovation”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2014

The room was a so-called business room, but I failed to understand what kind of business that could be undertaken there. The only electric plug I found, was in the corner behind the bed-stand, far from the chair & desk. One of the desk drawers contained an old hair-drier, named "First class" complete with souvenir hairs from a previous occupant. The bath room fittings were falling to pieces, and proper hygiene could not be maintained.
Breakfast was up to the same standard as the room, with a brown liquid that was pretending to be coffee, and lumps of cheese full of fingermarks from other guest trying to use the cheese-slizer..

During our stay we were very well received with friendly and competent staff. The next day we left for another hotel and the reciptionist booked the other hotel for us, even though he had no profit from doing it! The other hotel turned out to be shabby (Rovaer Kulturhotell) and so we returned here. On return (we also had credit card issues) we were given a very warm and understanding welcome as well as a truly excellent room with the best view possible. The hotel facilities are very good with a good swimming pool (open until 23.00!) and sauna. Overall a very good hotel and good value for money in Norway.

Located a few kilometers south of Haugesund City Centre, this hotel will suit your needs - provided you have your own transport. Despite going mid-week we only saw a total of 3 staff, including two receptionists (different shifts) and one lady in the breakfast room. The receptionst was trying her hardest, but we still had to wait for other guests to be served before we could. Both breakfast and dinners are buffet, so no À la carte. The breakfast was good - we had an English breakfast, but a wide variety of continental is also available.

The hotel lacks air conditioning, but does have heating for the winter times. We stayed here on the hottest weekend in Norway in all time and even with both of our balcony doors open, it was still stifling.

It's an old building, and could do with some renovation - hence the title saying it looks a bit tired. The swimming pool area could do with a lick of paint. The swimming pool is unsupervised, so if you are going with families, you need to keep an eye out for your own children. This is especially true due to the fact that the only two ladders are at the deepest ends of the pool.

The Superior and Suite rooms (unsure about standard rooms) came with mini bar facilities as well as complimentary coffee and tea facilities - however it was not clear which of these were complimentary and which not. As an example, a leaflet inside the hotel states that we had complimentary water and coffee - but the mini bar price list shows that the water is 32 NOK. Needless to say, we did not avail ourselves just in case.

We were treated very favourably at the hotel, as we were upgraded without request to a Superior room - which unfortunately had not been made up despite the receptionist's system saying it was ready. We were then upgraded even further to a suite, making the stay a bit more enjoyable. Despite this however, we've given the hotel a score which we feel better reflects the quality of stay.

We stayed in another Radison Blu hotel on the following night, and in the next door town (to be reviewed shortly) and noticed a considerable difference in the quality. We feel that this hotel can improve.

Room Tip: Do not come here during the summer - unless you bring your own air conditioning!

Nice basic hotel...Everything you need to be honest but not much in the area you need to be pretty fit to walk to the local city or get a cab ( which are very expensive/ starting off @£5 ).
The city itself is lovely especially in the summer.
It's more of a business hotel than any other.

Stayed here perhpas 4 or 5 times on business last time being 1st July 2014 - pleasant enough hotel that does the job - nothing special. The staff at reception are welcoming and the rooms are quite nice if not a little on the small side. What does let this hotel down is the meals - every time I have stayed it a buffett with a very limited choice this is for both evening meal and breakfast. A little disappointing however the hotel is idealy plced should you have business in the nearby dock area. As reported its a long way into town however if you need a average room for a one night stay then this hotel fits the bill

Room Tip: Request a double overlooking the rear of the property

Last week I stayed here two days for business and hotel is quite good located in Haugesund to visit the city and is located on the way to the airport (47/E134).

pro's: fast and free wifi, well sorted breakfast, large hotelroom and very friendly staff. The room I got has an impressive view over the fjord and a small balcony.

cons: not on walking distance to the inner city, you need a taxi or a (rental) car.

Room Tip: When you book, try to get one on the south of the building with see view.

Ok hotel in or actually outside Haugesund, there is about five kilometers to the center of Haugesund. The evening buffet was so so...but room is was okay.
I only stayed for one night, came in late and left early morning.
