“Worth the hike”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 26, 2013

Beautiful falls. Nice walk, but be ready to climb over boulders and rocks. Take a picnic and find a soggy rock to lunch with a view.

“Not all it's hyped up to be”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2013

Maybe we ruined this by spending a week in Iceland beforehand (quite well known for its cascades too) & because we live 4 hours from Niagara Falls. Regardless, this is quite WELL KNOWN in Norway. Maybe it's more popular because it's an easy drive/tour/day-trip from Bergen?

Anyway, didn't do the hikes TO the falls, but stopped at the tourist information/souvenir store/parking lot/cafeteria right off route 7. There is a 2 minute hike or 5 minute hike. Both were so simple, and no hiking boots needed. The other trails are much more rigorous &/or actual hikes. From the 5 minute walk's vantage point, unless you really strain your neck to look down, you cannot really see the two falls coming together. However, it was a sunny day so there was a beautiful rainbow in the gorge from the late afternoon sun. The falls aren't MASSIVE or VOLUMINOUS but they do create a mist at the bottom. It's also very amazing to follow the one cascade's path from the top of the fjord, cutting through the valley.

Also, went to the Fossili hotel (which charges 30 NOK for parking) which had a somewhat better and obviously higher vantage point. Still though, I preferred the angle from the parking lot off route 7. It's beautiful and worth a stop, but not worth the drive from Bergen if this is all you want to see.

“Really spectacular views”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 2, 2013

A really spectacular waterfall with a 180m+ drop and several smallers falls around. The view from the top is quite exceptional and can be accessed reasonably easily by anyone with average mobility. Non slip shoes are usefualas rocks can br slippery and a 'head for heights' is an advantage. Can also recommend a coffee at the hotel which can be enjoyed overlooking some great scenery. Journey to the top of the falls is also an experieince - several tunnels joining sections of mountainsid roads all with marvellous views.

“Hike to Voringsfossen”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 7, 2013

Went to the "old path" to the look-out. Found out you can drive right to it but the trail was interesting in itself.

“One of the most spectacular sights in Norway”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 2, 2013

The Voringsfossen Falls left me slack-jawed and almost unbelieving that such natural beauty exists. The sight of a gurgling stream slicing through towering granite cliffs and converging with two waterfalls that tumble through glacier-carved rocks was so breathtaking, I was almost moved me to tears. It was a fitting finale to a weeklong scenic tour of Norway's famous fjords. The falls are best viewed from the lookout a few steps away from the historic Fossli Hotel. Give yourself a few minutes to catch your breath when you first take in this sight, then take your time witnessing a true force of nature at work.
