“lovely views”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 9, 2012

we went at the wrong time of year for this attraction - museum is undergoing some decoration. Staff were helpful and allowed us to look around (even though they were not technically open).
Lovely views over the fjord even if looking a very old rocks isnt your thing,

“6000 year old”

Well preserved and presented. We got a summer intern as the guide and he did not know a word more than the brochures :-(

“Well worth a visit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 9, 2011

The Rock Art of Alta is on the UNESCO list. The largest site is at Hjemmeluft. This site is co-located with the premises of Alta Museum. The Rock Art area as well as the museum itself is well designed. A wooden walking path guide you through the open air rock cavings. Guiding is available in both Norwegian and English. Exiting to watch and a lot of interesting information. A vistit is recommended.

“Well worth seeing”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 14, 2011

You can walk by yourself and look at the rock drawings or yoy can use a guide. We had a guide and it was nice experience.
It is easy to follow the wooden path around the area to see the different rock drawings. Its amazing to see how the change in different areas.
My favorite: The skier
