Me and my daugther stayed here when there was Hingstekåring in Herning. Lovely place very clean and calm. Super bed and a tastefull modern designed very clean bathroom. There is also a minibar in the room with juice and Water, you can make your own the or coffee.
The wonderful breakfast and hospitality from Cecile was so good and made our stay perfect.
We went into the city for dinner and brought a pizza to the living room just for us. Candlelight and on the table, a very big tv with dvds in this dinningroom we really enjoyed the dinner.

Room Tip: If you want at room in peaceful place but also near the city this is it.

The impressing front door, the cool Nordic design mixed with the warm welcome from the host - it all made you feel very, very relaxed and in very good hands. Furthermore you will have a wonderful experience seeing the tastefull bedroom with a super bed and beautiful bedlinen, the absolutely clean and modern designed bathroom. And in the living room reserved for guests you can enjoy the interior design and Dutch made diningtable. It is exellent. Most important is the great heart of Cécile Robles, the host .

Every detail was taken care of: pleasant lightning of the rooms, comfortable eiderdown, a selection of teas and coffees and even a mini-bar with juices and refreshments. Clean and pleasant, all over.
Should I point to a change I would appreciate, then it would be using a non-perfumed detergent. In the bathroom the shower gel was neutral/perfume free. Great !
I would prefer if bedlinnen and towels were perfume-free as well.

Thanks a lot for your pleasant and constructive feedback. Regarding your remark about the perfumed detergent, I fully understand your point. Because some persons can be allergic for perfume or common detergents, I usally use a neutral one. This time it was not the case and I am very sorry for the inconvenience.

It's no coincidence that The Old Chestnut Tree has a consistent stream of five star rating. My wife and I had a five star experience that we cherish as one of the most unassuming and relaxing out-of-town stays we've ever had. From the impeccably decorated (and clean) rooms and halls and bathrooms, to the homely breakfast, to the cordiality and open arms of the hosts, we left impressed and refreshed.

The town itself is wonderful, and a bicycle is very useful if you hope to explore the surrounding wooded areas and lakes region.

Cecile gladly pointed us to a local restaurant which was in itself such a lovely dining experience that it called for a repeat visit on the second night.

We look forward to returning to Silkeborg!

We really enjoyed our staying in The Old Chestnut Tree, because Cécile and Peder are very kind
and they have been very welcoming. They gave us information about restaurants and place that we could visit during our holiday in Silkeborg. The house is really nice, clean and very quiet. The bathroom was cleaned every day. The city center is 5 minutes walking and the Museum Jorn is behind the B&B. In conclusion it was the best B&B in Denmark we stayed and we reccomend it who want to visit Danmark.

My wife and I have just returned from a wonderful 3 night stay at the Old Chesnut Tree B&B. We based ourselves at Silkeborg and travelled each day to Herning to watch the European Dressage champrionships (about a 30 minute drive).

As regular hotel travellers we were not sure of what to expect from a B&B but we were delighted with our room (spotlessly clean and very modern), a spacious bathroom with a great shower, and the overall experience (Cecile is a great host!). The room included a fridge with water/soft drinks included, a Nexpresso coffee machine and TV with a number of cable channels. There was also a parking space as we had a rental car. It worked really well. We also had breakfast one moring (5 DKK each) and it was well worth it.

We ate in Silkebord each evening and it was a pleasant 5-10 minute walk to the various restaurants. We would recommend Safran for an evening meal as it was great food for a very reasonable price.

All in all a really good stay!
