“Ideal in so many ways”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2010

This hotel was chosen as a stop-over whilst driving en route from Calais to Brittany, as well as serving as a base for visiting the Caen Peace Memorial/Caen City centre. Major criteria at the time of booking were to have a quiet peaceful location as well as having adequate car parking facilities (not often possible with a city centre hotel). We were pleasantly surprised and delighted by our choice, with both of these requirements readily being fulfilled – the latter providing spaces for approximately 100 vehicles. The Caen Peace Museum was easily reached by car (10-15 mins). We were aware that the hotel catered for both coach parties as well as conferences, but during our two-day stay neither of these activities detracted from the excellent service and attention given to normal paying guests.

The hotel was easy to find, being only a few minutes off junction 5 of the Caen North périphérique with the impressive CHU University hospital building serving as an easy landmark when approaching from the ring road. On arrival we were greeted by very helpful and friendly reception staff (Victoria) who assisted with our local travel issues as well as our specific dietary requirements. The Twisto tram service (the stop into the City was located just a few minutes away on Boulevard Henri Becquerel), provided both a convenient and frequent service into Caen city centre (€1.20 single for a 15 min journey) up till nearly midnight. The hotel provides an extensive buffet breakfast (€14 per person, but well worth the money) together with a traditional French/International cuisine in the evening. Room service is also available. There is also a Carrefour hypermarket with its associated shopping complex only 5 minutes drive away, for any of those forgotten holiday essentials.

The hotel does not have a room safe or mini bar, but these minor omissions are overshadowed by all the other positive features. A highly recommended hotel. Reservation was made through Booking.com which was a trouble free and very efficient service.

I was looking for a hotel for 3 nights near to Caen to visit the Normandy coast. This hotel was easy to find as it is located just outside Caen, there is a free parking with lots of free space. The room was quiet, clean and the breakfast correct. It is a 2 levels hotel with no lifts. Easy to visit the Normandy coast from there (D-Day sites). I got a good rate by paying in advance (3 nights for 2 persons included breakfast for 79 € per night).

Stayed here for one night whilst working in the local area. Despite it being away from the centre of Caen, the nearby trams offer easy access. It does appear to be in the middle of an industrial estate, but to be honest, Caen has embraced concrete with enthusiasm (unfortunately after the shenanigans of some 65 years ago). That said, the hotel is clean, has a good food & beverage offering with some good sized meeting rooms. It is easy access to the ferry and all the major battles of 1944. If you want nightlife et al, then stay in the centre. This is quiet, accessible and a good solid hotel.

Needed a basic stop-over en-route to Le Mans for the 24 hour race. Chose this hotel because of the secure car-park and reasonable price as we were only arriving late and leaving early.
Room was fine and at 65 euro good value but felt that the bar prices were ridiculous given the surroundings. 6 euro for a lager sitting on white plastic chairs in reception.....I felt that because we were a captive audience we were being abused!
Breakfast at a further 7 euro was fine.
Would stay again but maybe take a cold-box next time and take my own beers!

Although this is perhaps more of a motel it is good value and ideal if planning to tour Normandy Landing beaches as they are a short distance away plus there is good access into Caen.It is also within 15--20 mins from Ouistreham ferry port so good for late or early ferries. We found it to be clean and quiet with a good breakfast and pleasant staff and it was especially good value as we got a promotion rate called 'ready to visit'.We would definitely stay there again.

  • Liked — good location for touring area and visiting Caen. Also convenient for ferry.
  • Disliked — Nothing----it was a modern 3star hotel/motel--nothing pretensious but clean and quiet.
