“Wonderful home away from home”

There's nothing like testing your ideas of environmentalism like living in the midst of the rainforest! Marion and Brian were amazing hosts and educators, and the property is such a beautiful piece of integrated living. The guest room is spacious and clean and the public area is a great place to watch wildlife, read, or chat with the hosts and their neighbors. Don't miss out on at least having a fruit salad in the morning! The very quiet and pristine Cow Bay beach is within walking distance and there is a lot of potential to spot some amazing animals. My wife and I would definitely love to come back to hang out with Brian and Marion over some wine and talk politics all night again.

We booked a 4-night stay at Cow Bay Homestay as part of a recent 4-week Eastern Aus trip. Brian and Marion are excellent hosts and our stay with them was an oasis of 'normality' - a welcome break from the anonymous hotel existence that divorced us from the day-to-day details of our surroundings elsewhere.

When we booked we didn't know of Marion's skills in the kitchen but suffice to say we kept returning to nearby Crocodylus to eat in the evenings (Marion devises and cooks their excellent food!)

Thoroughly recommended, especially for those who like to get a real feel for somewhere rather than just 'doing it'.

My partner and I stayed four nights at the Cow Bay Homestay B&B in August 2009. Marion and Brian, the B&B owners, made us feel very welcome and relaxed in an unfamiliar environment. The B&B is in a very good location to get out and explore Cape Tribulation and the surrounding area, and Marion was very helpful at advising about what to do and see during our stay. She seems to know practically everybody on the Cape so was always willing to make the calls to book things for us (like our reef snorkelling trip or the exotic fruit tasting). The B&B is Marion and Brian's home and we liked feeling part of their daily lives (so different to our own, coming from a city). Our room was modern and nicely furnished with its own en-suite, and we appreciated the little touches (like the soap on a garden leaf) that Marion added to make the room welcoming. She also does a lovely breakfast with fresh fruit and yoghurt etc (particularly wicked banana pancakes!). A lovely place to stay to experience the rainforest!

Cow Bay Homestay is a great alternate to hostel or resort style accommodation in the Daintree. Marion and Brian are great hosts. The house is set in a wonderful oasis within the rainforest and Marion's tropical garden is superb. The guest pavillion is private although still within the house structure. Marion's breakfasts were extensive and a real highlight of our stay. We are still telling our friends about Brian's wonderful coral trout. We came as guests and left as friends. Great food, wonderful atmosphere and terrific hosts.

Cowbay homestay is a very special place right in the Daintree rainforest.

We stayed there for 3 days and found Marion & Brian very welcoming and full of advice about the local area. You can walk to the beach and it also works as a great base for exploring Daintree and Cape Tribulation.

Breakfast is lovely with a choice of cooked or continental. We would love to stay there again.

We stayed at Cow Bay Homestay for three nights and truly enjoyed it. It is stunningly located right in the middle of Daintree Rainforest and has a lovely tropical garden around it.

Marion is a very warm and welcoming hosts. She and her husband Brian rent out one room in their own house which is a nice, spacious and bright room with ensuite bathroom (with shower). The breakfasts are taken at the dining table in the middle of the house. She made us delicious breakfasts which we could choose ~ either a cooked or continental one and we were always offered fresh fruit and muesli with it. Marion was lovely to chat to or just have a cup of tea in the garden. She was also great with giving advise on what to do in the area and always offered to book activities, e.g. she booked us a snorkeling trip to the Great Barrier Reef which we highly recommend to do and which was our highlight of the trip.

There are plenty of small cafes and restaurants close by where you can have lunch or dinner.

We highly recommend Cow Bay Homestay if you are looking for a small B&B with a lovely homely feeling. We would definitely stay there again!
