“PEACEFUL AND COMFORTABLE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2013

A pretty English cottage complete with roses round the door - delightful rural accommodation! We loved the garden room - a separate annexe with its own private garden where Jan served us a welcome pot of tea and cakes on arrival. I suspect in high summer the garden room might be warmer than those in the main house as it has a flat roof. However, it's comfortable, tastefully furnished with complimentary bottled water, chocolate and tea/coffee, plus refreshing bathroom toiletries. Would definitely rate it at 200% for cleanliness throughout. Breakfast is served at one large table and is of high standard with a good choice. The homemade marmalade is delicious! Spire Cottage is ideally located as it takes just 40 minutes to walk along the towpath into Chichester - a peaceful walk with lovely restaurants at the end to temp you!

many thanks to jan because as likely as ever we were late to get away so we were given entry instructions, although jan was there when we finally arrived. i stayed in the twin with en suite with my 14 year old while we attended a day out at fishbourne. it was a short stay, booked last minute and i felt we had made a very good choice. thank you for the lovely breakfasts, driving instructions and the wonderful jar of homemade jam. best wishes.

Room Tip: i have mobility problems but i managed the few steps up to the room no problem. you can park very cl...

We arrived to a very warm welcome from Jan and she even brought us a pot of tea and cakes. She gave us all the information about the local area. We had the garden room which was so lovely, with it's own private garden. High quality toiletries and everything you need for an overnight stay. We had the best nights sleep in a long while, a very comfortable bed. Everything was spotlessly clean.
Breakfast was top class too. I had smoked salmon and scrambled egg, not often offered in a B&B plus home made preserves. All delicious and good coffee too.
I have to say Jan makes your stay extra special. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: The garden room was lovely with its own private garden. Nice to sit out on a summer evening.

This is a wonderful B&B. Everything about it is of the highest quality and the attention to detail is impressive. The location, the atmosphere, the accommodation, the food and the personality of Jan, the landlady, are all exceptional. We have been to many B&Bs, some of which have been very good. However, there has always been a "but" - not at Spire Cottage, We genuinely found it faultless and certainly plan to return.

Room Tip: We enjoyed the room with a four poster bed and superb ensuite bathroom.

What a gorgeous cottage. Very warm welcome from the owner. We stayed overnight - had afternoon tea in the sun right outside our room, walked along the canal before returning to the pub across the road for supper. Everything we needed was in the room - great toiletries, including handcream which I had forgotten to bring. Very comfortable bed, ensuite shower room beautifully finished, as was the room itself. Breakfast was great - we enjoyed the huge variety of home made jams and marmelades too. (mushrooms were good!). Would stay again if ever in the area.

Room Tip: We stayed in the garden room which was lovely, with its own private garden.

Thank you for our wonderful stay.
It was a delight to come back every evening to such a nice place and to awake every morning and find a delicious breakfast.
Dynamic and excellent tastes.
Hopefully one day, we would love to come back and stay again for a few days.

This is the second time we have stayed at Spire Cottage in the last three years and the standard is consistently excellent. As walkers, we stayed in the Garden Room which is perfect - no need to struggle with backpacks up the stairs and easy to store boots. Jan made us feel really welcome and offered us tea in the garden on our arrival. The room was very comfortable and clean, giving us a really restful night. The breakfast was absolutely first class!
