We booked 13/14 August for two nights for a reunion with old friends in the nearby Isle of Whithorn. It's difficult to fault East Culkae's offering as a farmhouse bed and breakfast. The welcome was warm and genuine from hostess Mary and her family. £25 per person per night bought us an upstairs bedroom with en suite shower room and views out to the front of the house, tea/coffee and homemade cakes on arrival (plus additional cakes left in our room on our second afternoon), and an exemplary breakfast to set us up for the day - porridge/cereal, a traditional cooked breakfast with any variants we wanted, jam/marmalade and toast, and home made pancakes (Scottish style). The place was spotlessly clean. Access is up an easily manageable track and you might hear the occasional animal in the fields but, hey, it's a farmhouse.
