“Another good holiday at the George”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2012

We have enjoyed our second holiday at The George this year and it is as good as ever. Welcoming hosts, good food, and a warm, comfortable room with excellent shower room. See my review of June 30th this year for more detail. Nothing has changed except the weather, which was really good for walking.

Really superb experience on our four night sojurn at the George, Thoralby. Charles and Becci were the perfect hosts ensuring that our every need was met. Wonderful accommodation of a very high standard, every thing was thought about and left one wanting for nothing. The food was first class starting with a sumptious full breakfast that was simply delicious and the choice of evening fare was second to none. We had a wonderful time in Yorkshire and stayed at the perfect place to make our experience "Simply the Best"

Stayed at this quiet little pub couple of weeks ago. We wanted somewhere to take our dog and found this place to be highly recommended on the internet.
It is set in a lovely little hamlet with views of the dales. We stayed in one of the two bedrooms which were in a detached annex. This allowed us to come and go as we pleased with our dog. She had a fab time. Lovely walks in the area. (Penn Hill nearby) and Muker to Keld was a beautiful 3 hour walk along the side of the river 'Swale'.
The 'George' bedrooms were spotlessly clean and had little added extras like bath robes and slippers.
We ate dinner on the first night in the small pub restaurant. It was good but not as good as I hoped. The other reviews rave about the food being brilliant, not for us I am afraid.
Breakfast was also served in the restaurant and was table service. You selected from a menu what you wanted and then rang a little bell on the table. Charles the landlord appeared and took your order. All abit strange we thought, however didn't mind so much when the breakfast arrived it was great. Lovely full english, toast, juice, tea or coffee.
It certainly set us up for the day.
The pub closes during the day and so we had to eat out. Nearby Aysgarth Falls Hotel was excellent.
All in all a nice little Inn to stay.

Room Tip: Only two bedrooms, very quiet on the night. No shops in hamlet.

This is a great little pub and B&B nestled in a tiny Dales village. The room was excellent, the breakfast beautifully cooked and the hosts charming and welcoming (and gave a great recommendation for a morning walk). Having the pub at hand for evening meals was particularly convenient, and avoided the inevitable question of which one of us would drive...and I couldn't fault the beer. A great way to spend a couple of days - I'm very happy to recommend the George.

Thank you Charles and Becci for a lovely weekend we have no complaints about anything the room was spotless [ you have thought of everything right down to the last detail ] and the food was delicious. It has took us a couple of years to find a clean and friendly place to stay, now we have found it. We have tried a lot of hotels in and around the Dale's because we just love it there, so we will definitely go back to the George next year. We think we will take our dogs along, we know Charles & Becci will make them very welcome.

This is the best place to stay if visiting North Yorkshire. The review is a little late as we stayed here in July. The room itself had everything you needed, and immaculately clean. The Inn is a good place to eat your evening meal, the meals are freshly made to order and the service excellent nothing to much trouble. What can i say about the breakfast except there is everything you could possible want from cereals, toast and full english which we can recommend which sets you up for the day. The Inn itself is in a food position to explore north yorkshire. Charles was a super host and we will most definately be back-with our new four legged addition to the family.

The George is a charming inn, in a charming village and provides all you could expect and more.

Charles the proprietor is friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble. The quality of the accommodation and food is first class. Rooms are spacious and the bathroom had obviuosly been recently remodelled to a high standard. Never before have I had a decanter of sherry in the room to help myself from !
I'd recommend the place to anyone and would certainly stay there again. In fact I can't wait !

Room Tip: There are only two rooms and both are excellent.
