“Good Random Find”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2012

We stopped to look at a restaurant we had been recommended the day prior (DOC- amazing!!) and literally stumbled across a couple who had eaten there the night before and we mentioned we were off to find a hotel..they recommended Folgosa Douro. This newly built three star hotel is great for the price, location and room. Small hotel but great little rooms many that look onto the river. If you don't get a room with a great view fear not the public patios and restaurants have great views. The best part is it across from DOC so you can enjoy the amazing meal, drink and walk across the street and you are home...no need for long taxi ride. highly recommend for a short stay. Nice wineries within minutes.

Stayed here recently for one night and found it perfect for our needs.
It clearly exceeds expectations when compared to the typical 3 star hotel... modern and well equipped rooms, fantastic views, high standard breakfast and kind staff.

The hotel place is on the douro river with panoramic views of the river and the village across. The room is good size, huge beds, nicely furnished.
Breakfast buffet was good with many choices. The staff are extremly freindly and helpful.
It is a new hotel, nicely decorated and gives you a good feeling.
The only negative not to be excellent, is there is no elevator from the parking area so you have to carry the luggage some stairs.

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor has better view while those on the first floor has big bacony.

We stayed at this adorable hotel while we visited the Douro Valley vineyards. The location is perfect for getting around to the various quintas, aside from the windy narrow roads :) The in-house restaurant was pretty great too, which is ideal since there aren't a lot of options in that area.

Highly recommend!

This is a rather new hotel on the banks of the Duoro river. It is about 15 minutes drive from either Regua or Pinhao. Because it is a new hotel, it is very comfortable with large beds and modern interior design. The biggest asset was, however, the enormous balcony that we had at our disposal. There are only three rooms like this and it is strongly advised that you book one of these rooms. The breakfast is basic Portuguese and self-service. The only thing missing in the room was a mini bar, but there is room service anyway. Wifi internet is only available in the lobby.

Room Tip: Rooms with balconies

Silence, pure air and strong river energies. We enjoyed there a unforgettable weekend with a lot of rain, but an amazing riversight and what a river full of life, work and dedication... Douro river, near to the land of my grandparents. Next summer we'll be back for sure. If you love magusto, try to visit this region of the country and enjoy the surprises

Room Tip: Ask for superior room, much open sight to river

Good location in a small village. Very easy to drive to the other sites in the Duero River area outside Porto. Nice rooms with comfortable beds and well appointed bathrooms. Modern decor. Very helpful staff. Walls a little thin and can hear other guests a bit. The in house restaurant is nice but not as elegant as the hotel for some reason. There is also another nice restaurant just across the street right on the river. Parking and the entry to hotel are difficult with only parking on the street or in front of the hotel. Entry was quite steep and uneven making it a bit of a challenge with luggage. Overall, a very nice stay.

Room Tip: Balcony rooms looked to be the best in terms of view and space
