This is our no. one tourist attraction in the Mo Bay area.....we have been going there for FIFTY years! Now we are into our third generation of visitors to Rocklands. We first went when my son was a youngster, and Miss Salmon was the director. Now Fritz has carried on her work, and he is so knowledgeable about local fauna and flora. This time my seven year old grandson, Trevor, wanted to see the Jamaican Tody bird, with whom he had fallen in love. He first saw the bird in a magazine and dreamed of seeing the real bird. We went to Rocklands and spend half an hour feeding the hummingbirds. Trevor loved having the bird perching on his finger and buzzing around his head.
Then came the hike to find the Tody. Fritz really knows how to find this bird and Trevor was able to see two of them. Needless to say, this was his dream come true. We go to Rocklands every time we are in Jamaica and never tire of seeing the wide range of birds there....the Jamaican oriole, red headed woodpecker, the various quits, finches, and other birds that congregate at the Sanctuary.
