We are just back from a 2 night stay in the Lodge and cant begin to descibe what a lovely place Portavadie is and the surrounding area. We wanted just to relax and get away and that's exactly want we got :)
The drive to Portavadie is through the most stunning scenery imagineable. It's a haven for those who love the countryside and sea....it even inspired me to go for a walk or two, much to my husband's amazement !!
Portavadie itself is a stunning marina development with different types of accommodation, all of it to a very high standard throughout. The website gives a good insight but it needs to be seen and experienced. The Lodge where we stayed is so cosy, lovely lounge/dining area, informal yet with modern sophisticated tones - we just loved it. Included in our accommodation rate was contintenal breakfast...., lovely platter of cold meats, yogarts, fresh fruit salad, cereals, fruit etc. Lunch and dinner menu's at the lodge are again simple yet well presented and taste great. Staff in the lodge were very attentive and helpful, friendly yet unintrusive. The Marina area where the apartments are is just a short walk from the Lodge and again it is of such a high standard. The cottages sit at the 'top' of the bay looking down to the marina.
We highly reccommend any of the accommodation at Portavadie Marina, I do not think you would be disappointed and will be like us, wanting to go back very soon.
A big thank you to all the staff who we met while there.

Room Tip: In the Lodge I think it's room 6 which is second floor, large room which has a mini balcony and...

What a wonderful place for a weekend getaway. Lovely drive from Helenburgh, ferry on the way there from Gourock and back Lochside. Quiet and well equipped accommodation and our meal was lovely (as was the wine). Would like to come back and bring the kids the next time (maybe!).

We have stayed at Portavadie Marina twice now and each time have been beyond delighted:

The first time was for a long weekend in a two bedroom self-catering cottage. Having afternoon tea - and later sipping wine - there overlooking the Marina is the most relaxed I can remember being for a very long time.

On the second visit, we stayed in a Studio Lodge overlooking Loch Fyne and Tarbert beyond. The accommodation is all new and absolutely spotless, ranging from luxury penthouses overlooking the Marina to Bed and Locker for tired hillwalkers. There is something for all tastes and clearly much thought has been given to providing everything you could possibly need during your stay.

The restaurant and bar are located at the Marina. The view from here is simply beautiful, with something of a ‘continental meets contemporary Scotland’ feel. The food and wine are delicious, with varied and interesting menus. The mix of local people and visitors in the bar all adds to the convivial ambience. The excellent staff made all the difference to the enjoyment of the visits – each and every one of them could not have been more friendly and attentive.

The Sat Nav said that it would take 3.5 hours to get to Portavadie from Edinburgh and it was spot on. We took the small ferry at Hunters Quay to Dunoon. The route to the Marina is well signposted from there. We travelled home by the road to Loch Lomond.

Portavadie is a well-kept secret in an area of Scotland often overlooked. The weekend spent here felt more like a week away. We plan to walk the Cowal Way in the near future and will be sure to book into Portavadie as part of the trip.

Thank-you so much to everyone who helped to make these visits so enjoyable!

I have used the marina and the facilities there for some time. We sail and have also stayed at the luxurious apartments. On this occasion a large group of friends celebrated new year together. We used a number of the lodge rooms as well as all of the self catering apartments one of which had been converted to a meeting room with removal of the bed etc. the staff laid this out with tables and chairs. We also attended the buffet dance on new years eve.
Overall we had a fabulous time and could not fault the staff or accommodation in any way.

We have just returned from a wonderful New Year break at Portavadie Marina. The two bed luxery apartment we stayed in with family certainly had the wow factor, with it's very spacious and modern open plan living accommodation, equipped to the highest standard, even down to it's own sauna and the very 'fluffy' towels. It was definately the place to relax and chill out.On arrival we had complimentary tea and coffee and traditional scottish shortbread brought up to us by a member of a very friendly staff. The panoramic views from the balcony were stunning and certainly called for a photo opportunity. During our stay we thoroughly enjoyed the New Year Gala Dinner which had been thoughtfully planned. On arrival we were greeted once again by the very friendly staff with a glass of 'bubbly' and canapes, this was the beginning of a delicious three course dinner followed by dancing until midnight which was celebrated with great enthusiasm by all guests bringing in 2012. The night then continued with a firework display and bacon 'butties' which was enjoyed by all. This has been our first stay at Portavadie and we were extremely impressed by everything and we look forward to returning again. We will certainly be recommending this venue to all our friends and family.

We've been here three times in the last twelve months and it's the perfect escape every time. Our second trip was part of our honeymoon where we stayed in the couples retreat, Tighnamara.

We love the peace, the fresh air, the beautiful setting and the food! The accommodation is a very high standard and impeccably clean every time. We've eaten in the restaurant on each trip for breakfast and dinner and have never had a bad word to say. The food is always good and the staff very friendly.

We stayed in one of the 2 bed luxury apartments a few weeks ago and was so pleased that we found this place.
The drive from Kilmarnock took just over 2 hours and had some of the most stunning scenery we have ever seen, even better that it was a beautiful sunny November day.
We arrived a bit early but our apartment was ready and it also had parking directly behind which was very convenient for bringing in our things. We also recieved some complimentary cupcakes which were not only delicious but a lovely touch.
The accomodation itself was amazing,it had everything you could possibly need for a self catering break with regards to kitchen utensils and every appliance you could think of. The bed was enormous and extremly comfortable, the towels were so thick and luxurious, the lighting everywhere would suit every mood you could think of, the floor to ceiling windows gave fantastic views over the marina........oh i could go on and on about this place it was so good.
There is a restaurant on site and in the Lodge but we never used them this time but there seemed to be a good menu choice in both.
The staff were lovely and not intrusive in any way but at the end of the phone if you needed them.
All in all a wonderful stay and can't wait to go back next year.
