“portavadie lodge restaurant”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

At our time of visiting Portavadie we ate in the Lodge restaurant. Here you choose a table, select from the menu, marking off your preference and return to a waiter. Food is then served to your table. This restaurant is a more relaxed, informal and comfortable experience but you can expect high quality, friendly and efficient service. Our food was fantastic and of a very high standard There is a varied menu which i thinks will suit most palates. If it's a relaxing holiday with excellent food, where you don't have to 'dress up' to have dinner you will love the Lodge restaurant.

Dear Smurfsusan,

Thanks so much for taking the time to review your recent dining experience in the Lodge Kitchen and Bar. As you rightly point out the Lodge is very much designed to have a less formal feel and indeed we think it is a great place to meet friends and make new ones with a very strong family feel to the venue, menu and service style and offers casual dining with a focus on great food and hospitality. I know the team will be very pleased to receive such high praise and of course look forward to welcoming you back to Portavadie soon.

Best regards

Iain

“Simply superb”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2013

We have just had four days staying at The Lodge at Portavadie while working on our boat which we are now going to keep in the marina. What a super marina it is! The best on the west coast of Scotland by far! All the staff were friendly and helpful. Our room at The Lodge was spacious, wonderfully clean and comfortably decorated with a lovely sea view The food was delicious and very good value for money. What a gem after a lovely easy drive from Glasgow!

“Brand new marina”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 28, 2013

Quiet in April but imagine it will be very busy soon and a very 'IN' place to be in the summer amongst all the boats.

“Should do much better”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

Our third trip to this Restaurant - though it has been over a year since last time when service was slow which we put down to its being Easter weekend then. This time the restaurant was not too busy; we had to wait a bit for the food to come though; two orders of fish and chips were very disappointing - many bones in the fish (they need to talk to their suppliers) and the chips were greasy and floppy and overdone (though the menu said they were 'real' chips what on earth does that mean?) My soup was overspiced, my egg mayo sandwiches, though presented on good brown bread, felt as though they had been sitting out for a while and gone a bit 'toasty'. Inedible crusts. A replacement serving of chips was brought out when the two men remarked on the state of the first lot. The second lot came too quickly to have been a new batch and were in just the same limp state as the first. Front of house coped very well with our feedback and took three mains off the bill, which was appreciated. But - come on Portavadie, you are being visited by tourists all the time from home and abroad - this is not what we Scots want to see visitors being served. Chef - pull your socks up. We know you can do better. One happy customer out of four is not a good ratio. You cannot just rely on the view.

Firstly I am sorry that our food service did not meet your expectations, we are a growing young, new and enthusiastic team ,who are striving to provide the best quality within our restaurant areas.
However this is not acceptable and in time ,myself along with our new Executive chef Neil will iron out any problems we may face in the future.
We are currently sourcing new fish suppliers and doing our utmost to get things corrected.
I thank you very much for your comments and can assure you that if you visit us again, please make me aware and I will ensure that you receive the ultimate Portavadie experience.
