“Wonderfull accomodation and very nice hosts”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 19, 2013

A very warm welcome gave us already a good opinion of the place but when Michael led us to the very nice room we were in heaven. the tastefull decoration, the comfort of the bed are outstanding but also Brenda and Michael are such nice hosts that we can say it was the best "Chambre d'hôtes" in which we ever stayed

Brenda and Mike are perfect hosts. Very welcoming and friendly. Very high standard, Mike and Brenda are passionate about their business and the standards of accommodation. We arrived in March so unfortunately could not take advantage of their wonderful pool area. We have visited Bergerac many times and this is the nicest place we have found. Plenty to do around - even in a very cold March this year. You will not be dissappointed and it woud be difficult to find a more friendly atmosphere.

The superlatives speak for themselves don't they.
Once in a while you come across something that is totally out of the ordinary. Brenda and Michael are clearly not ordinary people, they're fanatics. Why? A walk into their home is all it takes. Michael received us with a warm and friendly smile, and as soon as he led us to the room we were won over. Immaculate, tasteful, cosy isn't a strong enough word. The ample space, confort level, well chosen deco, lovely pool area, meant we'd found the peaceful stay we were seeking.
Michael only excelled this by providing advice on where to eat out. You can tell he's done this before with success, and our evenign dinner was no exception.
We did a midnight visit to the Monbazilac castlr just above his home, which suprisingly is totally open for visitors to walk around the otuside. At midnight its was lit up and the view over the Bergerac valley was lovely.
Even if we had a busy night with mosquitos, its a hard place to leave after too short a stay here.
We'll be back.

Room Tip: Just make sure you bring an anti-mosquito device of one type or another or ask Michael. With 42degsC...

We booked in to La Muscadelle for a one night stay at the end of our holiday in the South West of France. We primarily chose the accommodation based on the fact it was so easy to reach Bergerac Airport on our day of departure and having two elderly parents with us, we wanted to take the stress out of a long drive before the dreaded airport tension they both feel! Of course we also booked the Chambres d'Hotes based on excellent reviews. But my word, how wonderful a one night stay can be! We arrived early for check-in as agreed by Michael and boy what a welcome we had! Both Brenda and Michael are the most amazing hosts who cannot do enough for you, we were quite simply 'knocked out' by their kindness, generosity and of course the glass of vino on the patio! We were shown to the most exquisite rooms which were equip with everything you could want (it really is of 5 star quality in terms of bed linen, cleanliness, amenities etc); since me and my husband had spent the last 10 days dragging our poor elderly parents round the South West of France, we owed it to ourselves a relaxing afternoon and again, Michael and Brenda came up trumps! We took advantage of the immaculate swimming pool area and were left alone to just relax and take in the amazing surroundings of their home which includes vine after vine and a birds eye view of Chateau Monbazillac.
We had planned a trip into Bergerac that evening but the most amazing rain storm put pay to that so we took the advice of Brenda and headed to the Chateau for some wine tasting and then onto a new Wine Bar that opened that day in the village of Monbazillac called La Madison VARI. Wow what a lovely evening spent in the company of the family of Chateau Vari who served their amazing (and well priced wines) along with typical light French fare (we had 2 platters of meat and cheese plus a plate of Foie Gras, Bread and Salads plus a number of glasses of wine, Desert and Coffee and all for 50E for all four of us! - maybe that was an opening night offer but it well worth a visit for a relaxing evening of good food and wine).
Departure on the morning was the stress free approach we had aimed for and Michael aided this by producing Le Petit Dejeuner on the terrace with beautifully chosen products (fresh fruits, cereals, croissants and good coffee!)
So in summary, what was a quick stop over for ease of the airport trip home has culminated in us wanting to return to spend more time with Michael and Brenda as the most lovely warm people and to be based perfectly for visiting the surrounding areas.......don't just use La Muscadelle for the airport run, it is so, so so much more! Thanks Brenda and Michael (the ladies of the lamp - they know what we mean!) Love the Pullen Clan!

Room Tip: All three rooms are amazing, you will not be disappointed. The added bonus to the rooms is that you...

The very kind welcoming hosts Mike & Brenda ensure It can get no better than La Muscadelle and its amenities. M & B go the extra mile to ensure your stay is as perfect as they can make it. The rooms are really luxury as shown in the photos and the breakfast is broad and varied. La Muscadell beats others hands down for value, comfort and kindness. The terrace for breakfast is fantastic, whilst not trying the covered pool this time, I am returning with my family in July to take advantage of all they have to offer in a delightful setting.

The setting and gardens are really tranquil and quite unique, great for that glass of Vino in the evenings with very congenial hosts. Cannot recommend La Muscadelle highly enough, don't be afraid to book, thats if you can get in, they are usually in high demand.

Room Tip: All rooms are excellent no matter which one you have.

My husband and I stayed 4 days from 14th June at La Muscadelle and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. La Muscadelle is run by a British couple who could not have done more for us. As we did not have a car they picked us up from and dropped us back to Bergerac airport, drove us into Bergerac twice and took us and another couple to a local restaurant and picked us up after dinner. The rooms do not have TVs and my husband was concerned about missing the England match but this was not an issue as they let us watch the match in their kitchen/diner.

The room was very comfortable and quiet and the B&B has a lovely swimming pool. The B&B is surrounded by vineyards and there are several places to wine taste within walking distance. Monbazillac chateau is only a kilometre away, on the hillside above the B&B.

We plan to return in the future with friends and hire a car so that we can explore further afield.

Truly excellent stay.

We are a British couple in our 60's.We had the wonderful experience of staying with our hosts-Brenda and Michael-from 5-12 May 2012. Brenda very kindly met us at the airport to transport us to La Muscadelle. The approach was breathtaking as we saw the Chataeu on the hill en-route. We arrived at the B & B as Michael was serving breakfast to a very pleasant Belgian couple. Michael and Brenda had no hesitation in providing us with croissant and coffee/tea and made us feel straight at home. We stayed in the blue rooom which was immaculately presented, very comfortable bed, tea-making facilities and our own entrance with its own patio facing west to catch the beautiful sunsets. Excellent breakfast, never-ending supply of tea. Brenda/Michael supplied endless help & advice throughout the holiday for places to eat, to visit and history of the area. We enjoyed chatting to the guests but the garden was large enough to provide your own quiet corner to relax and rest. Brenda/Michael are the kindest people we have ever encountered over the years we have been staying at B and B's. There is no doubt that you will enjoy every minute and want to return with their excellent hospitality.Glor & Bill, Richmond, N. Yorks.

Room Tip: All rooms were excellent.
