We arrived from Lisbon (approx. 330 km by car, during a hot high-summer heat. The only thing we had in mind was running to the pool, really) Then, surprise: nobody was there to receive us. We finally reach the owner on the phone so she could call someone to receive us. We finally enter on the site, a women was there but did not know who we were and that we had a reservation. She spoke to us in spanish (she did not speak portuguese (not a word) and, for us (a portuguese couple) this was not a good start). Then the problems starts:
She told us that they give our room to the couple who was there previously because they miss their flight (which we were not responsible for!) She then offer us another room (which was not available when we ask for it 3 weeks earlier... quite a mystery) After a short look to the room, we were not quite happy with the room, so she offered us a bigger room BUT for one night only. She said only one night because another couple had make a reservation for it for the night after.
In my opinion; if the first couple took our room due to a missed flight, we could logically take the third couple room's for the same reason (if I follow the same rule...)
Finally, when we decide to stay in the smaller room to avoid a unpack - pack and finally unpack circus, we realized that the room they offer was not ready at all. No towels, no bathroom necessaries, no informations book (which contain all the informations about the hotel; nearby restaurants, security code to enter, best beaches, activities, important phone numbers, etc.)
I am tired just to write down our story as you are just to read it, I apologize for that.
Long story short: They forgot our arrival and did not (or try to) repair the failure it is an unforgettable mistake in my point of view. Especially if you have a small Bed & Breakfast and only 7 rooms to manage!
They could (at least) offer us the coffees we consumed (6 in 3 days) 1euro each. No...! The lady (the owner I believe) ask for it/ to be paid apart (not included in the total... for an ignored reason) / AND in cash please (!) This awkward bill scene was really unnecessary to our annual (quite precious) vacations!
Anyway. I stay with a bitter taste.
